Is this a good shop? Any positive/negative experiences?
Unicomp never answered my email so I'm looking for an alternative source.

Sir, this is probably the most reliable source of refurbished and NIB IBM keyboards. He does ask a fairly high price, but for that you get a well-maintained keyboard. Heck, he even has a 30-days warranty.
His site is also a real archive of almost any flavour of model M keyboard.

I'm afraid not, shipping keyboards to Europe has never been easy and model M's don't really interest me.

They get back to you eventually, they're quite slow.
They didn't get back to me fast enough though and here I am with my Filco as a consequence...

If you are talking about Unicomp, try calling them. E-mailing might not always be the fastest.

Unicomp :/ It took them quite a while to email me back. In any case postage to Australia was the same as elitekeyboard's, so I just paid a bit extra and got this filco instead.
I still wonder whether I should buy a spacesaver though...

I'm not going to beg Unicomp to sell me a keyboard. Now I am at least the second one to buy Filcos because Unicomp is unresponsive. I sent the email Sep. 23rd, never received a reply..
I'll find somebody else who actually values my business. Let's see if clicky answers emails.

Thanks for the info. Unicomp is their own worst enemy, apparently. I just bought 2 Filcos because they didn't answer my email. I probably would have done business with majestouch anyway, but if I buy a BS keyboard it won't be from Unicomp.

I have always had great service with clickykeyboards. I highly recommend them. They might be a little pricey, but you know you are getting a high-quality, clean keyboard with great follow-up service after the sale.

Does clicky normally send you anything when you place an order or does stuff just show up? My paypal went through right away. But I didn't get any kind of order confirmation from them yet.

IIRC, they use click-n-ship. You should get a USPS confirmation/tracking number. It's been about 4-5 years since I ordered anything, though.

Brandon is a class act. I've spent big coin with him (big from my perspective) and have not been disappointed. You won't get any smokin' ebay deals, but what you see is exactly what you get. Also, his guarantee of satisfaction is iron clad.

Not so much risk, these are both NIB and priced like he's proud of 'em. But they're not getting any cheaper so I figured it was time to snag a few. Thanks for the comments, Max.

That's fine, but if you're going to sell over the internet you better learn how to answer (and filter) emails. I'm in Asia, and calling America from here is not like calling from Canada.
It's totally unnecessary for me to shell out for a phone call to a place that doesn't answer emails. There are at least 2 of us that went with other vendors because of their poor handling of emails. If you want to call that's great but since they're selling over the net they need to answer emails. Period.
Good customer service makes or breaks companies in competitive markets. Maybe they feel they have no competition. They do, I just bought another 2 keyboards from clicky.

The funny thing is, I am not too sure if they really go after the home consumer. They seem to focus on replacement units/parts for corporate customers. Unicomp, that is.

I personally only had good experiences with Unicomp; fast replies and great service, like a replacement key for an old original Model M free of charge and shipping. Perhaps I was lucky or it changed in the last half year, hopefully for them due to more demand.

The thing they need to realize is that sometimes there is overlap, and every keyboard they sell is another keyboard they sold. It's easier to sell 10 or 100 units to one guy than one or two, but who knows what the day will bring. It's all money.
I run a small business and I don't have good suppliers. If I find somebody who takes care of me he gets my business. He doesn't have to worry about me looking for somebody to undercut him by a few percent- good service wins every time.
And I work on projects for some very big companies. If I get good service, I tell the people in those places about it.
Good service ALWAYS makes good sense.

never understood the email issues from any company. i mean, email is not hard to use. take the same people that answer phone calls, plop them in front of cheap computers. DA-DING! new email. oh hey, i will respond, but using this keyboard thingy that we sell instead of my the telephone. that makes it even better than normal company policy on email, which is "2-3 days".

Originally, I wanted to replace two Model M Space Saver keys with blank ones (I touch-type and the majority of my keyboards have US layouts not corresponding to my Swiss French habits). Unicomp took so much time to answer and to take my blank key cap order into account that I decided... to buy two Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless.
But I haven't lost hope of receiving my Unicomp blank key caps one day...

My experience with clickykeyboards.com was excellent. I bought my white label Model M from him, and service and shipping/packing were great. Then, later I noticed that the board was missing the upper right hand "-" key cap. I emailed Brandon about it, and he had a key out to me in the mail that same day. I would definitely buy from clickykeyboards again if I ever wanted to by another IBM.

I ordered a keyboard from Unicomp this week and the guy phoned me back in response to my email a couple of hours later, heh.

About ClickyKeyboards:
Their stuff is a bit pricey, but they are very good and honest people. If you email them with a question, they will respond within a day and they give very extensive information about their products. If you don't mind spending a little extra, go to ClickyKeyboards instead of Unicomp.
