Title: Custom wood case and Triumph Adler
Post by: nubbinator on Sat, 15 August 2015, 19:31:04
So, I've been trying to figure out if I'd be keeping my TA set or if I'm going to get rid of it.  I've really been wanting to use my wooden case (Walnut and Purpleheart lined with cork to dampen it), but have been waiting for the right set.  I'm not sure if the caps are the right ones for it, but they're closer than most others I've tried so far.  The PCB is the FaceU from the Sprit but with some really ****ty pink MX style stems that I'll be swapping out for Ergo Clears or some linear Gaterons with 70g springs.

More board porn to come after I swap the switches, but it is way too hot to be soldering right now.

You shut up with that! It's amazing and you are making me jealous. By total coincidence I'm working on a couple of cases out of Peruvian Walnut and Purpleheart. I can only hope it will look half as amazing.

TA set looks good in there too.  :)

Thanks guys.  I'm still not sure how I feel about it with the set though.

And inanis, I've been sitting on the case for almost two years now (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46979.0).  I originally made it for my GH60...which will come someday I suppose.  I still think my favorite color mixes are the Purpleheart and Red Gum and Ash and Purpleheart.

Beautiful case.  TA doesn't really add anything that I feel NEED to be paired with it, but the purple/orange tones and blue/blue-greens do go well together.

Feel like this would also go really well with 1976.

I like the vintage yet refined look it has together. Both the TA and wood case complement each other that way.

Other color ways like Hyperfuse or 1976 would give a different feel, so I guess it depends on what look you're after.

Either way, nice photos. 🏻

TA looks a bit yellower in your photos. Actually, it looks good that way against the wood grain.

If you're feeling really adventurous, you should consider dyeing your TA caps with a bit of yellow to create something really custom and unique.
