I've heard that in Japanese retail stores white is popular enough that it's actually more expensive.
Yup, we have that in the states though as well. Everything electronic costs more in stores than online.I've heard that in Japanese retail stores white is popular enough that it's actually more expensive.
I get the whole supply/demand thing, but there's no reason for people to pay more when a Japanese citizen can order either keyboard directly from PFU Fujitsu for the exact same price.

Yeah, obviously the store has to make some profit, and even buying at retail prices they can't match online prices. I just don't understand why people still buy the stuff.Yup, we have that in the states though as well. I could kind of sort of see it if it were $10-20.I believe it's something like that, nothing huge.

My personal preference is black body, white keys. Classy AF in my opinion :)

Definitely the best scheme with blank caps.
White. The "black" one is not truly black. The case looks like an old, sun-aged game console that's begun to take on a blue tinge. The keycaps are a deep black though, which unfortunately clashes with the case. I guess some people like it, but to me it looks terribly cheap, and I'd much prefer white. A lot of pictures you see here are edited / saturated to make the case appear darker than it actually is. Also for this keyboard, I think white is more like the "original" color, as the design is vintage and mimics the Sun Type 5 (also a white keyboard). As much as I love my dark grey HHKB, this is definitely one of my pet peeves; along with the absence of rubber feet worthy of a keyboard of this standing.

I never understand this complaint. I have a pretty smooth desk, and even so my HHKB never moves. You guys realize you're supposed to be pushing the keys *down*, right? :)That's fine if it works for you. However, in my opinion, two small rubber feet associated with two plastic nubs (that are prone to wear) is not an acceptable configuration on a keyboard this expensive. Any other premium keyboard would be criticized if it was to have the same design.
I love blank white. Just a beautiful thing.

Nice. What does that F11 key do?
oh sorry. That is the underscore ( _ ) key which is very important when working from the command line in linux systems. File names, script names, directories all usually contain these in place of actual spaces since that creates problems when trying to access or call.

Unless you precede said space with a backslash. Or quote the filename.
