Title: N-Key Rollover over USB
Post by: Viett on Fri, 16 October 2009, 17:39:26
Might be completely crazy...

but isn't it possible to exceed 6 key rollover over USB by emulating multiple keyboards?

I tried plugging three keyboards into a USB hub and easily got 12+ (Ran out of fingers).

So why not emulate a hub and on top of that multiple keyboards to exceed 6 key rollover? That way one USB keyboard with this emulation can exceed 6KRO and still only use 1 USB port.

cant wait to see logitech's new gaymin board...

BY USING THE POWER OF MULTIPLE USB PORTS... LOGITECH YET AGAIN OUTPERFORMS THE COMPETITION FOR YOUR GAYMIN NEEDS.  UTILIZING DUALPLUG (R) TECHNOLOGY, THE G199 CAN REGISTER UP TO 24 KEYS AT ONCE.

I get the feeling the 6 key limit is being worked around pretty effectively.  In Vista the Razer Tarantula using standard Windows HID Keyboard drivers supports up to at least 15 keys at once the last time I mashed my hands across one.

They might have built something into the driver specifically to accommodate the Tarantula.  But now that the support is in there, maybe other keyboards using the same type of firmware on the keyboard could take advantage of this as well.

That's cool. I didn't know you were a polydactyl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polydactyl).

I wonder how that guy figured out which finger to put his wedding ring on.  I'm not sure what he's trying to do, but it sure is an interesting way of doing jazz hands.
