Title: Cleaning spiral cords?
Post by: Hakhu on Sat, 17 October 2009, 06:09:14
I got two Model Ms a couple of days ago and they were filthy!

I got the keyboards quite clean in the dishwasher. But the cords are still really dirty.

Any ideas how to clean those? Soap-water did not help in the least.

Thanks!

I don't really know. Every single springy keyboard cable I've seen is old, dirty, and gray.

You might find something like Windex (ammonia based glass cleaner) to be helpful.  I typically pinch the cable in a rag and pull it though a couple of times.  I do this in the garage to clean electrical cords and air hoses too.

Sometimes I put the cables into the dishwasher as well. Even then they don't always come out clean.
