Title: keycool 84 - any way to disable the numlock feature?
Post by: SSJChar on Mon, 14 September 2015, 00:54:10
hey all. so i have a keycool84 which is a 75% keyboard. its exactly what i want except that i also have a numpad that i put on the left side of the keyboard to use with my left hand. only problem is that when numlock is on, the uiopjkl;m,./ keys become the numlock numbers. is there a way to disable this feature on the keyboard? i'd still like to use both the standalone numpad.
i WAS able to have a keytweak solution so that it changes the numpad keys to the homerow/qwerty numbers, but i'd like them to be the numpad numbers so that i can use character code. any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you can. Your PC basically detects the KC84 as a full size keyboard with numlock on, minus the uiopjkl;m,./ and unless there are DIP switches on the underside (which to my memory there isn't) you won't be able to turn on Numlock and use the full alphas at the same time. Unless there is a way that a keypad can be recognised as a keypad without using numlock, however disabling the layer that lies over the top of the alphas in the uiopjkl;m,./ positions I don't think is possible.

Ah, I have a KC84 as well, same issue. I had to disable "numlock on boot" in my PCs BIOS settings. This at least made it so I don't have to remember to turn numlock off... which I would only remember after entering a wrong password several times.

Edit, re-read your message, I realize now you are using a separate keypad so you do want numlock to be on, obviously disabling numlock on boot isn't going to do much for you. I guess you're kinda boned since numlock is part of the KC84 firmware, is the keypad programmable maybe?

thanks for the help guys. I guess there isn't really anything I can do about it. still like the keyboard though, and really the only thing I'm missing is the character codes, which I guess I don't use all too often.
