Hey everyone, I'm checking in to see if there is any interest in acrylic keyboard dust covers. The ones available already seem to be around the $30 mark plus shipping. I haven't seen different sizes either. I would like to get some and aim to sell them around $14-18 plus shipping. There would be around 34 available in each size (TKL, 60%, Full) If you haven't seen these before they are basically a rectangular acrylic covering with a slot in the back for your cable.
Since I doubt the 34 slots for each will fill, I will buy the rest of them to sell in my own store. If there is any damage to them coming from china (which is highly likely with this stuff), I will claim the damaged ones as part of the ones I buy and deal with the manufacturer myself. Should there be so many damaged that it bleeds over into the GB's orders, I will issue a full refund immediately to the people last on the lists. For the GB to happen, I would like to see interest in at least 20 pieces of each size. If you are interested, please post here or use this form: http://goo.gl/forms/MksT1JAoxx (http://goo.gl/forms/MksT1JAoxx)
Thanks!

I'd be pretty down for one to fit my HHKB, I didn't really want to pay for one from EK, as I'm cheap. :))
-
could be kind of neat, especially for display purposes if you're a collector.
Id be interested If they are well made
-
I have been looking for exactly this kind of thing for a CM storm mod I'm planning. It would be amazing if I could pick one up.
-
Already got one from ek when I ordered my HHKB, but forgot to order one for my poker as well... I would be interested if you are shipping to europe

I can, but it would be pricey for international shipping I'm afraid. You would be looking at somewhere around $22USD for shipping. It may still end up cheaper than the other options out there though.
-
EK would have me at ~$65, so it is still 'worth it'
-
If timing is right I'd like to pickup one or maybe two for 60%.
-
It seems that most of the interest is for the 60% and TKL covers. I may try and get a few fulls for those that want them if I can. I'll go ahead and get the ball rolling on this and report back with any news soon.
-
Whoops. Thought I expressed interest in this for reminder's sake.
Interest expressed.
-
Expressing interest for 75%
-
Down for a 60%, form filled :thumb:
-
Form filled, in for a 60%, just depending on shipping cost.
-
I'm interested in a 60%. I'll fill out the form when I'm not on my phone...
-
I wouldn't mind a couple of all three tbh.

Hey guys, just thought I would give a little update on where I am. Here are the dimensions I am planning to go with:
60%- 30cm x 11cm x 3.5cm (11.81in x 4.33in x 1.38in)
TKL- 37.5cm x 15cm x 4cm (14.76in x 5.91in x 1.57in)
Full-Size - 48cm x 20cm x 5.08cm (18.9in x 7.87in x 2in)
The 60% should fit about everything except the ducky mini. Of course it will also work with smaller 40% KBs as well. TKL should fit about everything in that category. Now for full-size, I decided to make it a bit larger. This way it can fit G80s and most model Ms. So if you have a regular full-size like a Ducky or Filco, it will be a bit oversized. If anyone has an issue with that, let me know now and I will consider making it smaller and saving the G80/Model M idea for later.
As far as the cable slot goes, I am planning to make the slot run about the length of the cover in the back. This should provide room for your cable no matter the position. However, another thing I can do is put in two smaller slots. For 60% it could be on the left and in the middle, and for Full size it could be on the right and middle since that is where the cable is on most of these keyboards. For TKL, most are in or near the middle, so it would just have a long middle slot.
Let me know what you guys think about those dimensions and if you think there is any room for improvement. If there are no big issues, I will go ahead and start the GB this week.

Hey, we having same idea but toward EU users
http://deskthority.net/help-f53/acrylic-roof-cover-for-60-and-tkl-t11627.html
We have slight difference about dimensions:
- 31 cm x 12 cm x 5 cm (60%)
We will propose 2 different size in one color: TKL and 60%
Dunno if it helps maybe the right dimensions would be a middle of our own dimensions?
Cheers

That's interesting. I'm glad to know I wasn't too far off then. I actually forgot to account for the thickness of the acrylic on the width dimensions. So I would add a cm to the W of my previous dimensions. That actually makes my 60% dimensions almost identical to yours. I would do 30cm x 12cm x 4.5 cm on that.
Also, how did you decide to do the slot? Did you make it almost totally open across the back or multiple smaller slots in the back? Given the design, it may be necessary to have acrylic on the sides (instead of open on the sides) to have the back almost totally open like that which is what I am currently trying to decide on. I would rather have the sides open, but I also want to make sure no one has issues with a cable not fitting. Having a long slot on the back makes it a pretty universal fit I think.

The issue with slot is on hhkb, mini usb port is set near to the middle while on other 60% on the left/right
We are thinking exactly like you intend to with many multiples smaller slots (also covering the sides)
About our thickness, its only 3mm
I need to valid dimensions to start a proto
I think our dimensions have still a room
I will update our advancement if it could inspire your work as well ;)

I have dimensions pretty much finalized now. One thing I would like some input on before I start the GB is if you guys have any problem with the sides being open on this design. That makes it possible to use the cover with a keyboard that is slightly wider than the cover, like the ducky mini for instance in the 60% category. I also think it looks a bit better aesthetically. However, I am somewhat concerned about dust getting in through the sides. I don't think it will be an issue, but I don't know because I haven't owned one of these kinds of covers. Let me know what you guys think about that. Open or closed sides?
-
Most dust covers seem to be open on the side, overall I would be fine with them being open on the sides. The top will cover it from most dust and other things already, it'd be pretty minimal with the sides open...

We most likely increase sightly dimensions in order to include the maximum model compatibility
I am talking about F660C/M which are longer than usual 60%
We are also planning to close the sides, actually closing all sides except for the rear of keyboard which would be covered by an half only
Basically, it will look like a shoes box cover ;D
