Title: Custom 1800 Keyboard
Post by: daviswalkers on Sat, 19 September 2015, 13:26:46
I recently fell in love with the idea of an 1800 design after seeing KIN's TX-1800 GB, which I took part in however after not having any replies for quite some time via email/form/anything about the GB I've began realizing that it's likely not going to happen and I'm out $100, and more importantly, a stunning 1800 layout keyboard. I was curious if there's anywhere that I can build my own? I've seen a few on the "Post your Korean Keyboard" media thread but after googling for them I was unable to find any vendors.  The best thing I could come up with was buying a Leeku 1800 PCB and finding an old case somewhere, however I was really hoping to get a metal case similar to the TX-1800:

Or the LZ CP:

Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Edit: I found more info on the LZ CP in a thread here and found a website with some info

However I don't know Korean and I'm not really able to figure out if there's ordering somewhere on the website or if there's a GB somewhere from what I understand there cant be a LZ GB on geekhack though.

Hi, I was in on the GB for the LZ-CP here on GH.  I got my keyboard parts delivered two weeks ago. Looking really sweet. I think an email to him is worth giving a try.

I've asked LZ if he has anymore and he told me none were available.

The closest to a custom 1800 layout you can probably get is the LZ skin setup from kbdhub/sethk_

I think the idea of LZ-CP is not for 1800 lovers since the layout is just different

Recently I've fell in love with 1800 layout too, so I contacted Sethk_ and ordered his Leeku1800 with plate
that's gonna be your best bet to get 1800

However, I do think that Kin25 will somehow deliver the orders. I bought 2 keyboards from him in the past, though it took a while

Dang sucks to hear that :/ I really love the way that keyboard looks.

The only problem with Sethk_'s route is that I'm still caseless, I know a lot of people suggest buying an old 1800 on ebay and just using it's case however I didn't see any last time I checked and I don't like the older look of most of the ones I've seen in the past.

EDIT: Oh I just saw on his vendor form the LZ Skin and it's 1800 layout case. Interesting... Thanks

Yep.  It's a nice looking case for sure.  Plus it has the clear middle layer so you can utilize the RGB lighting under the PCB.  :thumb:

Now I want one... dammit.

Sethk_ told me recently that he has to take different route for 1800 case, that since lz can't support him (being too busy)

But pretty sure kbdhub will find another way to fulfill the case demand. I myself will be satisfied with the Dolch Pac case I get from a member here (so lucky)

As long as I get the pcb and plate, and pair it with the upcoming skidata set, I'll be a happy boy :D
