Title: leopold fc750r cherry mx blue switch replace with any other cherry mx switch
Post by: damex on Mon, 21 September 2015, 03:11:41
hello,
i'v purchased recently leopold fc750r with blue switches. using keyboard  feels good but it is too noisy to use at the workplace.
i'd like to know if it is possible to change blue switches on letter keys to browns (or anything else that is not really clicky) cherry mx switches.
is it possible? i'd like to avoid opening keyboard screws for a while if it is not possible. but if it is - i will order switches from ebay/any other place and change them.

In order to change the switches you need to open the case and desolder all the MX blue switches. Then you can place the new switches on the plate and solder them again.

Since this is quite some work it might be easier for you to just sell the board at a little loss and buy a new one with the switch of choice  :thumb:

or you could just install o rings to it, not sure how much of a difference they make, but they are cheap and would save the effort of selling and rebuying a board

So true. My blue Filco was on the same state, bought another board then another then another. Now looking for my end game, which everyone knows a myth.

Isn't it possible to open the switches and change to sliders (and maybe the springs too) in order to get mx brown switches on his keyboard ?

Many people have done this - it is an excellent compromise.

O-rings won't dampen the clicky sound of blues much, they mostly just soften the thump from the switches bottoming out.

Unless the keyboard has a plate that facilitates switch top removal (which I'd suspect it doesn't), you'd have to desolder the switches anyway to open them.
