Title: What's up?
Post by: tofu28 on Wed, 23 September 2015, 21:56:30
Hey,

I'm Chris and I've been a keyboard enthusiast for about three years now. I've mainly been active on the mechanical keyboards subreddit, but I am thirsty for even more keyboard content. My first keyboard was a CM Quickfire Rapid with MX Reds, I still use that quite often for CS:GO (although I'm not that great). Currently, I'm typing on a Leopold FC660M with Cherry MX Blues. To be honest, these aren't my favorite switches but I find them better than Reds for typing at home. Coming in a month or two are the parts for my Planck build in which I will be using 65g Zealio tactile switches. My dream keyboard is the Realforce 87U 55g.

Hope to see you around,
Chris

I'm really considering that, especially since they are available for around $200 including shipping through amazon Japan with a proxy service. Considering that I just bought parts for my Planck, I'll hold off for a little bit. My dream setup is Planck for on the go and Realforce at my main desk. Just the thought of cup rubber makes me a bit tingly on the inside.

Welcome to Geekhack!

I see trends in new members keyboards, and this time around it seems to be RealForce 87U 55g!

Oh and a few mentions of Zealio switches - definitely something done right in that department! :)

Glad you like it :) I agree, the Realforce 55g is one of the best "out of the box" keyboards around. I have been using mine entirely stock since late February, gonna lube and silence it pretty soon...I am a little nervous  :-X

What are you using to silence it? EK landing pads or dental bands? Also, what are your opinions on lubing? Whenever I lube stabilizers the effect just seems to go away pretty quickly. I think the modification that's on the top of my list is to change the cable or add a removable one as I'm not a huge fan of the current one.

I will be using Hypershpere's Silencing Rings (http://www.ebay.com/sch/katesattic2/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true) for silencing. I have yet to lube a board, though I think the Realforce will benefit from it. It will probably end up being very quiet.

I plan to order a couple of Pexon Realforce cables  (http://pexonpcs.co.uk/products/realforce-cables?variant=1041962663). Very high quality.

Congrats :)

A RealForce 87U 55g uniform is one of the very few keyboards left on my wish list.

My dream keyboard is the Realforce 87U 55g.

I've had more keyboards than I can count under my fingertips at one point or another, and can say the RF 87U 55g is my favorite retail keyboard out there. Very good keyboard to save up for!

Yeah, I finally got it and I love it. Since I'm learning Colemak, I'm down to around 50 WPM so I get more time to admire every single keystroke.
