Heya, got what I imagine is a newb question here. I've got a Classic and an Ultra Classic, which I both bought in 2015; needed one for the home office, one for the office-office, of course. I notice that the keys on the Ultra require a tad bit more effort to push down.
Now, I assume this is the way these two boards are supposed to be. Anybody know why Unicomp decided to make this change? I would guess the Classic, but which of the two is closer to the Model M?

The Classic is representative of the original Model M. The Ultra Classic is a trimmed-down version with a smaller footprint, but it is the same keyboard.
As far as feel is concerned, yes, every Model M feels unique. Some feel radically different than others. Usually when a Model M feels inconsistent, there is a problem. If both keyboards feel consistent to themselves, there is nothing to worry about at all.
I have a gallery of quite a few Model M keyboards.

Take a look.

That's very interesting. Why is that?
Yes, they both feel very consistent to themselves. I haven't noticed any key that feels odd compared to the others on the board.
I'll get back to your photo library; looks like there's a lot there.

I've found this to also be the case among my various Ms, and it can take a slight getting used to when going between different keyboards.
One day, I'll go through them all mine and catalog their 'feels' and model/serial numbers. Probably give each one a proper cleaning too as many of the keycaps were covered in gunk when I bought them. Much of this has worn off since they've been used, but I still can see it. Although I now know which keys I don't use as often, haha.
