I'm talking about this one here: http://pexonpcs.co.uk/collections/usb-cables/products/realforce-mod-kit?variant=6145584323 (http://pexonpcs.co.uk/collections/usb-cables/products/realforce-mod-kit?variant=6145584323). I'm curious to see what it looks like installed on a Realforce. I've tried searching for pictures across keyboard forums, but I haven't found any as of now. I'm not quite sure how it works out with the cable channels, can you route it through either of the ends, or does the female usb a port prevent allow it only to be channeled through the center? Also, can these be custom made with mini usb instead?
Thanks

Pexon's really friendly and will do pretty much any combination of connectors, but I don't see any mini USB female on his site. You're probably best off sending him a PM (https://geekhack.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=22379) and asking, he's usually pretty active on GH :)

Also thinking about purchasing and am curious (have searched) about the positioning of the cable relative to the different routing paths on the board.

If you end up getting one, make sure to keep me posted! Also, add some pictures since I'm convinced that pictures online of the kit in action are nonexistent.

I'll end up ordering, just need to make-up some sleeve colors for the other part of my order :)
Will update once I receive the mod-kit.

Mine should be arriving really soon. From what I've read on reddit, there will be some problem during installation especially if your cable is double sleeved.
The part that screws in to the pcb is also twice as long and the included cable protector thingy (no idea what it's called, the one that clamps to the cable) is too big so we have to use the original one.

I move my keyboards around a bit, would love to get one of these in a micro-usb

I made a similar pigtail usb cable for my RF TKL but it still not as good as a case mounted usb connector. I posted a mod I did to my RF TKL a couple of years ago https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=50821.msg1113956#msg1113956 Sparkfun sells mini usb and micro usb breakout boards for about 2 bucks. If you can solder and have a Dremel tool its a pretty easy mod to accomplish. The usb connector has proven to be durable as I swap keyboards around often.

Is it necessary to cut the case? Are there any alternative solutions?

I'm not too sure, it'll depend on the thickness of the original cable vs the mini-USB plug.
Will let you know after I've tried it :D
