Title: Are Gateron PBT same as IMSTO PBT and same as Vortex PBT (Cherry Profile)?
Post by: Hyde on Sun, 11 October 2015, 20:17:48
They all look very similar and all came from China.

As far as I know IMSTO has a (EDIT: 3rd party) factory that makes the keycap for him and he does the dye sub himself.

And I highly doubt that there are 3 factory with 3 molds that make almost identical products.

Though they all seems to have their own exclusive colors.

Thoughts?

IMSTO doesn't make the keycaps himself, he only does the dye subbing on keycaps(usually Vortex in the past, now Gateron). Vortex and Gateron are 2 different brands and use different molds as they are different in a couple ways.

Gateron has lines along the bottom, a stem tightness issue, and 90 degree angle inside edges on the underside of the keycaps.
Vortex has no lines on the bottom, no stem issues, and rounded inside edges on the underside of the keycaps.

Plus the thickness of the keys are different on Vortex and Gateron.

lol yeah that's what I meant, IMSTO uses a 3rd party to make keycaps for him then he does the dye sub himself.

But ahhhhhh that's good to know, I guess now we're getting more and more keycap options now.

Would be interesting if someone can compare Gateron vs IMSTO vs Cherry vs JT keycaps one day.  :P
