Similar event occurred with me except it was my wife spilling beer on my rubber dome. The solution was to go searching for a new keyboard and end up on this forum with an SSK and HHKB.

If it was me I would not have tried using the keyboard straight away. I would open it up and wipe, clean and then dry the parts for a few days. Then reassemble when you are sure that the keyboard's internals are dry. Much like what you could do with older mobile phones.

Yeah. Probably cost $5. Nothing to discuss here in a mech keyboard forum.

Like everyone else said, just throw it away.

Go to a thrift shop and get a better keyboard for $2.

It is fine to discuss membranes. But obvious solution is obvious. It isn't worth trying to fix. A bottle of rubbing alcohol is $2.15ish, plus paper towels, qtips, TIME, etc. New kb is cheaper.

"A bottle of rubbing alcohol, plus paper towels, qtips, TIME, etc." this is the solution, but it is not guaranteed to work.

It does indeed say membrane in the forum description - and scissor.  And laser :))

For a membrane keyboard, I wouldn't waste time trying to clean it.  Unless it is a really top quality keyboard, you'll spend a lot of time disassembling it, cleaning it, putting it back together, and maybe it will work, maybe it will still have problems.

If this is a situation that could arise again, one trick is to buy a couple of keyboards at the same time.  Most membrane keyboards are nowhere near the price of a mechanical keyboard, so this is usually a viable option.

I have had many PCs over the years, and each one came with a membrane keyboard.  I kept a lot of them long after the computers died, but I ended up throwing a couple of dozen out (while still keeping a few lying around just in case, although now I have a small mechanical keyboard collection that I use exclusively).
