I kind of need an old graphics card. I'm using an old system that someone gave me for a little while, until I get the cash for a new system. It's an okay system, it just needs a graphics card.
That'd be pretty great. Someone I know had some virus and didn't want to deal with it and just gave me the PC, I just installed Linux mint and it was all good. I'll throw $15 your way or something, if you'd like.I kind of need an old graphics card. I'm using an old system that someone gave me for a little while, until I get the cash for a new system. I have an EVGA Nvidia 8800GT kicking around here some place. It is pretty old (from 2007, I think) but I'll send it to you if you want it. Old stuff deserves a good home too! I'd just need to find it.

Linux Mint is great. It runs fantastic on all manner of hardware. Good stuff! Send me a PM when you have the address, and I will send it your way. That will give me time to find it too. :thumb:

$12 shipped to Geekhackers in the US.This is very tempting. I have a UPS account so I can cover shipping, so how much without shipping?

Hey @SamirD, you should quote all those posts in one response. :thumb: We're not suuuper critical about double/triple posts here, but just FYI. :)Yeah, I usually do. Just didn't think of all my responses like I usually do. :-[

Thank you! Never hurts to be reminded. :thumb:Hey @SamirD, you should quote all those posts in one response. :thumb: We're not suuuper critical about double/triple posts here, but just FYI. :)Yeah, I usually do. Just didn't think of all my responses like I usually do. :-[
Oh, haha. Figured you knew and just forgot, but wanted to give a heads up just in case. :thumb:
Right now I've got a 6870 (with a big Arctic Cooling aftermarket sink that blocks three slots) and a 770 spare... along with a GTS450 that came out of a PC I pulled out of a dustbin. That's a pretty good variety! My secondary machine has crossfire 6870's, they are pretty great cards. Do you know what the original cooler on it was? one of mine is the shiny silver Gigabyte Windforce one and the other one is a single fan Sapphire Flex.
The desktop has a 390, and the family spare machines have a 660 and a HD3650.
i've got some old isa/agp/pci cards. i have tons of old hardware.I had that goal at one point too. But then I realized others are doing it better than me. So at some point I'll probably sell everything I have that I don't have a personal attachment to.
i don't know when i started collecting, but i always wanted to start a computer museum...

Looool. The gigabyte one I have has 3 beefy heatpipes and 3 fans. It's super quiet. The sapphire one is okay I guess.Right now I've got a 6870 (with a big Arctic Cooling aftermarket sink that blocks three slots) and a 770 spare... along with a GTS450 that came out of a PC I pulled out of a dustbin. That's a pretty good variety! It was a HIS, it had a boring cooler which was about 80% empty shroud, then a little round heatsink with one silly heatpipe, featuring one fan on top.
Most of these are waaay newer than the most recent one I have :))I was thinking the same. Was expecting to see some Voodoo Banshee and stuff like that :))

Yes unless you had a weird fan setup which basically no cases support without modding or if they're very obscure, if someone can find a popular case to make me feel stupid go ahead.

Wouldn't air flow better if the fins were vertical?

Oh I know those ones didn't generate much heat but that is just assuming if it did get hot. Also air going through the fins is better than against the fins.Yes unless you had a weird fan setup which basically no cases support without modding or if they're very obscure, if someone can find a popular case to make me feel stupid go ahead.

Actually it shouldn't make any real difference since the heatsink is on the underside of the card and flat when installed in a tower case. In fact it may even be better the way it is since you need air FLOW to get effective cooling, both in and out. Inflow is blocked by the motherboard and socket if it's vertical. Anyway they didn't need much cooling, so...
i've got a stock pile of 1mb, to 16mb video cards. isa/agp/pciBut do you have any microchannel cards?
also have sound cards/and scsi controllers.
my collection stopped growing when goodwill ceased sales of any computer hardware.

Ah yes EISA. And don't forget VLB! That was all the rage for a while.i've got a stock pile of 1mb, to 16mb video cards. isa/agp/pciBut do you have any microchannel cards?

That would be interesting, and also EISA. Hmmm. I don't believe I have any anymore.
I would have loved to keep my EVGA GTX 570 HD. Unfortunately EVGA required me to send it back during the RMA process. I guess I'll forgive them as they sent me a GTX 960 FTW edition that now carries the same lifetime warranty.Ah yes, wonderful Fermi.
If I ever get another card and upgrade to another PC I'll more than likely just use them for backups.
Mine either get passed down the line in the computer family, or get given away to friends in need of an upgrade (though its been a few years now since my last upgrade, my card is still holding strong, albeit quickly heading for the graveyard of obsolescence). What card is the one in question?

Also, I found a GTX 460 2win on Ebay. I'd buy it immediately if not for the price.
That still is a very capable card. Currently its a Radeon XD 6950 2gb model from 2011, was a beast in the land of 1gb cards
I think i saw the one you were talking about, but theres also http://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-460-02G-P3-1387-AR-2-Win-2GB-GDDR5-SDRAM-PCI-Express-/151830171635?hash=item2359c88ff3:g:Q4QAAOSwFnFWBzVN up for $100 OBO if that suits you better than the $700 one lolHaha I still wouldn't buy it for $100. One of those is only worth like $60 to me.
