A few months ago, if you've asked me if I'd be buying more than one keyboard, well. I'd probably tell you, "No. Why would I do that?" Of course, at the time, I still had one of the older Razer keyboards with cherry mx blues and I still loved it. I understood the benefits to mechanical keyboards, so I was already an proponent for them, but I never considered myself an "enthusiast." However, I was going to get a MX brown for a quieter switch(CM Storm Rapid-i) and a Poker II w/ MX Clears to compare and contrast them, then to sell one off. However, I ended up loving both and keeping both. Then grew my interest in mechanical keyboards and consequently, my downwards descent.
Then, I came across the concept of the Ergodox. As a bit of background, I've been trying to convince my brother to adopt a mechanical keyboard. He has quite a serious onset of carpal tunnel that he's had to get braces for, a special mouse (I want to get him a trackball at some point) and of course, a split membrane keyboard. I found the Ergodox along with one other design that I can't remember on the spot to be the best options for him and I've started to set the ball in motion for planning out budgeting for tools and materials as well as which keyswitches would be best. After doing much research on my own (at least half of which originating from here) I found that maybe giving Gateron switches a shot would be best for him since I've seen many people describe them as "buttery smooth" with most saying they are smoother than cherry MX. Another bonus is also the Gateron clears, which to my understanding are lighter than Gateron Reds and MX Reds. Though, I haven't been able to get my hands on a set of various single gateron switches for him to test. This brings me to Geekhack.

What in the world is a clacker?
You can get some switches from here https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=77
And per forum rules you shouldn't be trying to buy/sell outside of classifieds until you've got 25 posts and 2 months of membership.

Thought a "clacker" was some sort of off-hand term for mechanical keyboard enthusiast. Thanks for the link by the way. And oops, looks like it was amended for me. Sorry about that.

We started off in the same boat. I donated my Razer BWU w/ Cherry Blues to my dad (so I could buy another board). Coming up on 7 boards and have artisans coming in left and right.

Welcome to Geekhack!
A few months ago you probably hadn't experienced the range and diversity of what the mechanical keyboard world has to offer. It didn't occur to me that I'd get as many keyboards as I have, but the collection kinda grows even when you're not watching.
There's also a whole ergonomisc (https://geekhack.org/index.php?board=125.0) section, if you haven't found it already, where other members might be able to offer advice and suggestions for your brother :)

Welcom to the boards. I really like the idea of an ergo type keyboard but I can't seem to pull the trigger since I only use keyboards at work. They dont allow untested drivers to be installed.
