Also relevant,

Apparently the Average grams of salt lost PER POUND of sweat is only 500mg..

So , if you weigh yourself before and after your typical workout,  you can find a relatively precise mg number of salt that needs to be replaced..

Sweat is not the only mechanism through which you lose weight while exercising.

Once you go on a low-salt diet for a while, everything tastes too salty. Even Subway tastes too salty for me now.

Salt, sugar, and fat are what gives us pleasure, though, so most places load up on those qualities. Salt flies under the general 'diet' radar though since it isn't fat or calorie related.

Are you mainly doing fast food or sit-down restaurants TP? If it's the latter I bet you will find you might even save time cooking at home. I could see how fast food is salty (well, because it is :P)

I do both..

I'm not sure I could make dinner faster than the restaurant myself, lol..

For lunch and breakfast, it's fast food,  and for Dinner it's usually sit-down, because I'm already standing at the machine shop all day.

I used to use a lot of salt, but now I cut way back. I use small amounts in cooking, it is necessary to "wake up" the flavors in a lot of things, but it does not take very much to be effective.

Refined sugar is the same way. Forget the recipes that call for it by the cup full, but a fraction of a spoonful can be a help without being harmful.

But then how would you bake sponge cake without cup fulls of sugar.. (http://i.imgur.com/cu73Joj.gif)

This stuff is my jam. It gets you into the habit of using it sparingly, plus it's healthier for you (maybe? I dunno) What I like to do is turn it into red wine sea salt by adding some cheap Merlot, sugar, thyme, and lemon juice. So good  :thumb:

Most processed foods have way too much salt, so I hardly cook with it. Granted, some things NEED salt: scrambled eggs, rice, steak.

If you actually take the time to track your sodium intake, it can be quite alarming. If you cook all your own foods though, then it may not be alarming at all :)

I don't need to track it,   I'm 100% sure it's WAY TOO MUCH...(http://i.imgur.com/CeSVycg.gif)

A lot of North American and European countries put way too much salt in their food. Try moving somewhere else. ;D

TP currently lives in China, much to my chagrin. I need him back in the states to keep the OT section hopping.
