Title: Your most embarrassing noob post?
Post by: njbair on Mon, 26 October 2015, 20:40:41
Go up to Profile > Show Posts and click all the way back to the beginning. Then share your most embarrassing post from your humble newbie days! I'll start with an x-post from another thread about newbies:

I just went back into my profile and read some posts I had made around the 100 mark. Some real gems in there, including (1) asking BunnyLake to add keys to a GB after ordering had already closed; (2) asking what a Korean custom is; (3) giving Binge suggestions on how he might streamline his cap-making process (I've never even seen a casting setup).

No question it would be my first thread/post here:

I've found myself here after attempting to convert my keyboard (an ancient Cherry Cymotion Linux) to DVORAK and finding that I can't, because the keys have slots on the back meaning they only fit straight on the row they started in.  Why anyone would do this is completely beyond me, but I'm over my disgust at the discovery.

Does anyone know of a supplier of keycaps for such a board?  I can only find them for mechanical keys so from what I can tell my options are stickers (which I fear will either fall off too easily or make a mess if/when I choose to remove them) or a new keyboard, which would cost a lot more than the free I was hoping this would cost.

Any help much appreciated!

If it wasn't bad enough asking about caps for a rubberdome I posted this at least six times as I kept getting an error :-[

This is not so bad...at least it's not one of those questions every noob asks.

It may not be really embarrassing but I found myself looking for double shot ALPS key caps. Now we even have GBs for them.

Here is mine, however I edited it shortly after due to the embarrasment.

Bro was doing an email sale, and as soon as he posted the info up, an hour in advance, I sent the email out.  My post was originally something like "I forgot to include my PayPal", or something like that.  I felt like a moron.

When ur a noob joining a group buy - post #1

I filled out the google doc in the "How to Order" section from the first post and PMed Boost asking to confirm whether I made the cut or not.  Haven't heard back, a couple days later.  Can anyone comment on whether this is full-up of people and no longer available?  The suspense is killing me.  I'm ready to pay!

And then SmallFry hits you right in the feels at post #8 :'(

Welcome! Another Wisconsinite!

Wisconsin!

I saw rumblings of a possible WI meetup in a different post, I hope that happens and is at a time when I can go.    :)

Oh god. I'm embarrassed of most of my early time on geekhack, but my first post hurts a bit.

Here is me asking to join a GB way past the deadline... in 2011 lol.

May I order a set of Black Engraved please? I realize the cutoff date is today, so I hope I'm not too late. PM sent, I hope to get a reply soon. Sorry, newbie here as well.!

Can't believe it's already been 4 years now and I'm running my own GB, who would have known?! :D

i guess i haven't been here that long. my first post is may-3-2015.
i worry every post/reply i make is going to make me sound like an idiot, so i don't post much.
but what does that matter anyway.

it has made me realize i still have a lot of projects i need to finish up.
and a few work logs to post...

Went to post in the "post a pic of yourself" thread and my login timed out (before I saw the stay logged in forever option).  When I went to post it made me log in again and when I did and hit post I didn't realize that it posted the pic as it's own thread.  Whoops.
