Welcome to Geekhack!

That's quite a keyboard collection you have

What is wrong with your SSK?

Hi there, your collection's pretty awesome too! :)

Well my SSK has a cracked plate which I epoxied and did a bolt mod after, but I keep getting stuck keypresses on the left control key. I tried reseating the springs a few times, but they keep yielding stuck keypresses on random keys, mostly on the bottom row. I must have botched the bolt mod somehow, but I gave up reseating the springs after a while, hence the "half-dead" state.

Might get back to fixing it someday, it's such a nice keyboard to type on :D

Cracked plate :(

The plastic barrel plate?

I understand that Unicomp might sell replacement barrel plates, even for SSK!  It might be worth contacting them to see if they still have any.

You could even get a full-size plate from Unicomp and cut it down with a Dremel or hack saw.

Hi guys, nice to meet all of you!

rowdy, njbair: thanks for the tip regarding the SSK, I didn't know Unicomp might still carry replacement parts for it; I shall drop them a message.

E3E: no worries, hope you manage to get the board over to you safely! I did get a partial refund on the cracked IBM Alps, in the end, which is pretty nice. :D

ripwallet:, Alps is really nice ;)

Those things are creepy. Did anyone ever see In the Night Garden? I think it was by the same people, but less creepy. The show was nice and calm.  My kid loved it obsessively when she was younger. She'd cry every time an episode ended.

Hello! Never seen these before, the blue guy reminds me of the Aladdin genie. Teletubbies was a super hit over here on TV back then, my younger sister loved them to bits. Can't say I was much of a fan..
