Hi, I recently bought a Unicomp keyboard and I find the top of the keys are slippery.
I always clean them with alcohol and even right after cleaning they still are slippery.
Is it because it's new, does it need to wear out? my model M doesn't seem to have this problem

Welcome to Geekhack!
Not sure what's going on there. Haven't noticed that one and I'm convinced they didn't change the plastic.
You could always take some fine sandpaper to scratch it up a bit.
it was like that since the day i got it, like some clearcoat or something, there was no grip at all
I used a steelbrush since i had it nearby, turned out ok, for now
thanks for the tip

I keep hearing strange inconsistencies about unicomp boards/service

The boards are great, the finish is not.

fair enough
but if i buy a unicomp and it's got slippery keys, i'm blaming ripster and ch_123

It's really luck of the draw with their stuff, especially as of late. Tbh, unless you want USB, I'd get one of these. (http://shop.ebay.com/brian_oneil/m.html?_nkw=42h1292&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3911.m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=0)

I couldn't do a term paper last week because my ALT key was feeling under the weather :(

I don't think the Unicomp has changed in quality.

When I dyed my keys, they developed a much "dryer" feel, both on a near-new Unicomp and a 1992 1391401.
