Title: Clicky Alps vs Blue Cherry
Post by: ch_123 on Mon, 09 November 2009, 05:27:15
My recent modding and refurbishment of some Dell ATs has made me interested in clicky Alps switches, and in particular how they stack up against other switches like Blue Cherrys. I know the Alps are stiffer, but what is the tactility like? And are they as friction-ey as the Black Alps?

As webwit pointed out, the Model M to clicky ALPS is a pretty easy transition (at least it was in my case).  If you don't really pay too much attention to the feel, they almost feel like lighter BS but a little less refined.  My clicky Alps 'board (Northgate) was NIB, so I am not sure how they age over the long haul (I only used mine for about 6 months), but it was pretty nice.  They have a higher-pitched click than BS but nothing like blue Cherrys, and depending on the case materials, they can be very loud.
