He has gamer rage so he needs a durable keyboard to endure his wrath, I need suggestions

Don't make the mistake of thinking that just because Apple makes keyboards out of aluminium that that is a durable material :P (or a good keyboard).

Probably not the answer you are looking for but rather than looking for a durable keyboard he should learn to control his "gamer rage" and not break his stuff.
That being said, anything with a metal case is pretty hard to damage beyond repair. I'd recommend a Pok3r as an excellently built keyboard with a metal case, the programmability is nice too if you play indie games that don't let you rebind controls.

the switches are more prone to spoiling should your friend abuse it
perhaps its better to get a board that can get switches replaced easily

Get him a Model M, seriously you can pound your fists on it and not hurt it. Otherwise, Vortex/Filco, it should be considered a lethal weapon/zombie assault keyboard. Mine is close to 5 pounds, and like the Model M, you can pound on it and not hurt it. On the bad side, that same aluminum can fall and break a foot, or your desk. The Model M, likely won't. The Model M($50) also won't break your wallet like a Vortex/Filco (about $300) will do.
I'm not sure handing a raging moron a 5 pound weapon to sling around is such a good idea.

Good point. This is why I also think for instance the Acer 6311 is more robust than its moderately flimsy frame and hammers-over-membrane construction would suggest. Sure, it's prone to dusting up, but servicing it is as simple as screwing off the back panel and the entire mechanism including the insides of all the switches are instantly exposed, ready to be cleaned. Moreover, the switches are case-mount and can be replaced by clipping out a switch and putting in a new one, no soldering ir anything needed. Tough? No. But highly serviceable, and that goes a long way.

He should have one of those industrial models designed for kiosks. They even have metal keys!

If he can't control his "gamer rage", then my suggestion would be a stack of cheap rubber domes from Walmart or like store.
If he goes into a fit and smashes his fists on a mech, replacement caps and switches will most likely be in order. For the cost of very cheap after market caps,o e could probably buy 5 or 6 cheap rubber dome switches.
Not to mention if it is a pcb mount board or the plate doesn't screw to the case, then the reality of a damaged pcb is very real. Granted one could possibly fix broken traces with soldered in jumpers, it could possibly feel horrible depending on where the break occurs in relation to mount screws. Most only have a few mount points. This would be in addition to having to desoldered all the switches.

This maybe a crazy idea... but he should get the most expensive custom board possible.... that way when he breaks it he may have buyers remorse and learn to control the rage over a "game" :D

Does it help? I've actually rage hit my M a few times. :-[ The phone usually takes more punishment (so I keep a spare charged and ready to go).
