I like that side profile. Always neat seeing wooden cases.
-
Thats pretty awesome! Can't wait to see the finished project.
Did you make sure to cut a hole for the dip switches and USB port?
-
Kinda on the fly with this one. Still figuring out where to put the electronics. But I'll find a spot;)
-
What kind of wood is that? It looks fantastic.
-
Poplar and pine. With a light stain and polyurethane
-
A slab of wood, a cutter and a bit of stain - such a simple design yet so pretty, and I bet it's as solid as any steel plated board. Probably quieter too! Do you have some caps lined up for it?
-
Oh wow, this is really beautiful! I'm glad you have an addiction, it's creating some awesome products! :thumb: I'll be very interested to see how typing sounds with that wood plate and case.
-
Looking good!
I was just talking about trying an all-wood plate with resin-stabilized wood, but it looks like you got around the stiffness issue with just using a much thicker plate.
-
I am very jealous of your addiction and hope to one day be able to join you
-
Well not to promote but I'm hoping to finalize a design I can market. It's a lot of R&D going on at the moment
-
This is so sick, it gives me ideas for all the 40%s I need to build.

Kinda like this little guy
I'm also working on a cover design to protect the keys similar to the one datamancer did for the poker case that was on Massdrop.com
-
Love the one piece look. How thick is the plate section?
-
5mm I think.

5mm I think.
Cool, thanks! I'm always curious as I'm thinking of making something similar and yours is a nice inspiration.
-
No problem I'm glad I could help
-
damnnn, jealous. looks very pretty, that!
-
Thanks
-
Very nice work. I love one-off boards like this. :D
-
That looks really great! What kind of wood did you use for it?
-
Poplar as a test. I want to do one in aromatic cedar
-
Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I will hopefully get off my but and finish this build this week.
-
Newest project.

Looks nice I really like the idea of using all wood like that.
that reminds me I really need to buy a trim router to try to rig up on my diy cnc plasma cutter. Any recommendations on trim routers? I was thinking a Makita but I'm assuming you are using a dewalt because its on an inventables machine which tends to have dewalt router mounts available from what I have seen.
-
I'm using the makita. I designed and had machined a mount for it it's a 701c

That is what I have been thinking about picking up. How is it working for you?

working great. hogs through stuff like a beast. you'll need a custom mount for it. I'm using one i designed and a buddy sells. if you want one i can get you his info.

Good to hear. I think I will just make the mount myself on my manual mill it shouldn't be that hard to make.
