I'm looking for a Type Matrix alternative, preferably one which can be programmed on computer A and used on computer B without installing any software on computer B. I own a Kinesis Advantage, but am considering something flatter.
Option 1
PrehKey MCI 128

They are available as a matrix or staggered. According to the downloadable manual, up to 16 layers can be programmed. Unfortunately, it seems to be rubberdome. Also, I'm not sure how typing on it would feel.
Option 2
Cherry G80-1950

It has Cherry MX browns, but it is supposed to be programmable only on XP or earlier. I was able to install the old software on Vista, but I have no idea if it would actually work.
Any suggestions or comments?
