Hi,
I've read topics on the geekhack forums randomly over the past few years, but am just now starting to get into it.
I've had 2 HHKB Pro 2 keyboards for 7 years (Black and Black with Blank keys), and love them. I've recently bought the alt controller board from hasu (thanks to this forum), to hopefully make my keyboard wireless.
I've started reading and seeing a lot of very cool looking keycaps such as the aluminium ones, and read something about Topre to Cherry Sliders.
Can someone please confirm if i need to buy these sliders to fit custom keycaps which are generally for cherry keys on my HHKB Pro 2?
Any other modifications people would recommend, would love to make it backlit, but not sure how complicated that is.

Welcome to Geekhack!
Two HHKB! Fantastic!
Have you had any problems with them over 7  years? Not many people have had one that long and still here to report about it.
Most artisan keycaps suit Cherry MX switches (or MX-compatible). Many artisans also make Topre keycaps (and even buckling spring and Alps variants).
There are very few metal Topre keycaps so yes, you will need the MX sliders for your HHKB to fit such artisans.
Also note that the sliders are round on the top, where the "+" stem top is, and artisam keycaps with square stems do not fit.
