I am currently awaiting my first mechanical keyboard, a Ortholinear Keyboards Planck which I ordered off of Massdrop! ;D

Any particular reason why you chose a non-mainstream layout for your first mechanical keyboard?

Most people tend to go for a TKL or at least 60% first ...

Most people tend to go for a TKL or at least 60% first ...

Hehe, I chose it mostly for its programmability and for its multiple thumb keys. My right hand particularly hates the placement of the backspace key on traditional keyboards—ouch!

Fair enough.

The backspace on an HHKB is just above Enter - many find that position to be very usable :)
