Title: Keytronic KB101 Plus
Post by: Vizir on Mon, 23 November 2015, 09:33:05
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Keytronic-KB101-Plus-5-Pin-IBM-PC-XT-AT-NEW-IN-BOX-Key-Tronic-KB-101-/151892732241

couldn't find much info, but seems to be capacitive switch of some sort with rubber domes (and that you could order rubber domes of varying actuation force to modify it to your liking).

I have two Keytronics and I believe one is a kb101+, but with a different layout.  Keytronic is still around (and sell brand new boards for less than this auction), so you could probably even call them and ask what this particular board is.

As far as I know, Key Tronic (http://deskthority.net/wiki/Key_Tronic) never made anything besides rubber domes and foam-and-foil.

Nonetheless, these listed for $149 (https://books.google.ca/books?id=yYDbUAjvDu4C&pg=PA49&lpg=PA49&dq=%22key+tronic+kb101+plus%22+-ebay&source=bl&ots=CFdhVJ3Exx&sig=p2vRUWAmyEbnFcMStnQ9bauAOng&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwim2feZ77TJAhXGRSYKHV_FCsIQ6AEIJDAB#v=onepage&q=%22key%20tronic%20kb101%20plus%22%20-ebay&f=false). In 1995 dollars. PC stuff was amazingly pricey back then, wasn't it?

Ctrl and Caps Lock in the same key? What's up with that?:

Yeah that is interesting.  I found another picture of the same keyboard with the same combo key:

They used to make magnetic reed switches back in the 70s. Unless it's positively ancient it will be foam and foil or rubber dome though.

Foam and foil seems likely, since they mention "capacitive" in some literature.
