Title: Great Buys === Affliate Links?
Post by: retrochick on Mon, 23 November 2015, 22:45:23
Noticed a good number of these "great deals" also happen to be affiliate links. What this means is that whoever posted the link will get paid if you purchase said deal and/or click on the link. They may also be paid if you purchase something completely unrelated to the original product off of their site (this is called a referral bonus). Just wanted to point this out and to ask the mods if this is against the TOS?

Every link that you click through gh goes through an affiliate so I would guess it's not against TOS...

TOS only matters when they dont like you.

boost was a vendor and a mod at the same time. against VToS. mkawa was running geekhackers and was an admin, against VToS.

tos is ****, who cares

Taken from the rules section (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36774.0):

Do not post referral links (where someone viewing or buying via the link you provide will cause you to benefit in some way). If they are in a format where the referral code can be removed from the URL, they will be edited. If they are in a format where the referral code cannot be removed from the URL, your post will be edited or completely deleted as appropriate.

If nobody is moderating this subforum then it doesn't really matter does it.

Every subforum is moderated, but we cannot read every post of every thread. If you see something against ToS, please report it so we are made aware and can act on it.
