Title: NPKC 84 Mechanical Keyboard | Any good?
Post by: Mrupton on Wed, 25 November 2015, 10:51:11
Its on massdrop now, https://www.massdrop.com/buy/npkc-hero-84-mechanical-keyboard?referer=FCAP79&mode=guest_open&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Mech%20Keys%20D%20Product%20Announcement%202015-11-25&utm_term=Community%20-%20Mechanical%20Keyboards%20-%20%5BD%5D

Is this a solid keyboard? Never heard Gateron switches, but from what I read they are nice. I have the v60 mini with green switches atm, but looking for something to give less hand-cramps and resistance. Plus the NPKC looks really nice.

Any opinions? Thanks.

Gaterons are suppose to be super smooth.

Buy it and post a review!

I've recently been given a Gateron black, brown and clear switch. The difference with the clear and brown isn't huge, but the black one is DEFINITELY a lot smoother.

But aren't Gateron clear switches linear? If I'm not wrong then they should be very different than Cherry MX Clears.

Yes, they're linear and also very light at only 35 grams. Maybe chyros is only referring to smoothness though?

Yes. The difference in smoothness between Gateron clears and MX reds is nowhere near as pronounced as between the two blacks IMO (accounting for the difference in weighting).

Would be really interested if this was based on TMK like the 60% KC60 that was also from NPKC. Lack of information makes me think it's probably not. A shame, could really get behind a brand that didn't needlessly reinvent the wheel and keep their firmware closed for no good reason.

Why do these companies put these awful stock keycaps on their boards?  Good lord.
