Title: Seeking multimeter assistance.
Post by: bherkert on Tue, 01 December 2015, 15:53:51
I am troubleshooting my 1 year old Ergodox (the left side has stopped working) and would like to find out if the left hand is getting supplied with the standard 5v. I gather that I need to touch some part on the I/O expander and something else while the keyboard is powered to test this, but I'm squeamish about frying something. Has anyone got a diagram of the pcb they could direct my multimeter probes with?

Starting from the dot on top of the chip, your pin 1 is right next to the dot, and increments going down the same side to #14, then up the other side to #28 on the opposite side of the dot. So your ground pin is pin #1, and the voltage pin is #11, or 4th from the bottom on the side of the dot. Common (black) multimeter lead goes to ground pin, red (volts) goes to voltage pin.

Edit: It's also rather hard to kill anything when measuring volts.
