Looking to silence my HHKB.
Do I go with dental bands, EK landing pads, or hypersphere's rings (if they ever restock)? I'm leaning towards landing pads since they're relatively cheap and I've heard they do a great job. Just looking for some opinions, thanks!!

Split this topic by request, as asking for an opinion doesn't fall into the bounds of a simple question.
I haven't silenced any topre boards myself, but I hear that the landing pads do the best job of silencing the board while preserving its original feel.

Hypersphere's is the best but if you wanna do it right now then go with the landing pads.

I thought the dental bands were good to use. Is hyper's rings better?

It will give you the same result as a stock Type-S silencing, which means no travel reduction.

So, I might as well get some dental bands, right?
Is there something I'm missing. I want to try a silencing mod but I want to do a good job.

He meant hypersphere's rings not the dental bands. The dental bands reduce the travel.

Every method works if all you want is just to silence it. What I'm saying is Hyper's ring will give the best result compared to a stock silencing method.
The easiest method I suppose is the dental band as you just have to stick in in there without doing any extra work.

The dental band mod took me no more than an hour to do the first day I got my hhkb (which was yesterday lol) so I'd agree with that comment about it being the easiest.
I've otherwise heard good things about the other options. I think it's a matter of how just how silent you want your kb to be. Because the dental bands on mine took out a lot of the higher pitch "rain" patter sound from before the mod and it does silence it but I feel like it could be even quieter than it is now. But I could be wrong as I have only seen videos and other people's notes on the other silencing methods.
Good luck with figuring out what to do with yours, though!

Dental bands are quick and easy, but I'm leaning more towards landing pads because they will apparently do a better silencing job - all the while not reducing travel as much.
In my opinion ironing some landing pads is well worth the extra time. I'd gladly put in some extra work if it means more permanence, rather than just slapping on some dental bands that I'll probably end up replacing down the road.

Curious as to what size bands you used, also by "'rain' patter sound" do you mean the click sound on the upstroke? Hows adjusting to the backspace going? :p

Ironed landing pads are a bit more of a pain than hyperspheres, but they'll suffice if you want to do it ASAP. They have less key travel issues than dental bands.
