Title: Topre 35g Boards?
Post by: Harms on Thu, 03 December 2015, 17:49:51
Hey guys, are there any commercial TKL or 60% boards that have 35g Topre switches? I was thinking Leopold or the HHKB might have some, thanks for the input.

AFAIK HHKB and Leopold only come in 45g. I think 35g is only available with the ergo weighted Realforce boards.

I'm not very privy on Topre or Ducky, but apparently their new collaboration will produce two keyboards with one at 30g and the other at 45g. Soooo... prepare yourself for breathe typing.

XD ahaha thanks guys. I'm thinking of trying 35g cause I heard it feels less tactile. I did not mention that  topre clones count also. So if theirs any noppo or royal kludge boards with 35g, that would be awesome.

I had another question about Topre in general. Right now I have the novatouch TKL. Does it feel different from 45g HHKB, leopold, or real force switches?

Not the switches themselves, but the way they're mounted makes a big difference. HHKB has them mounted in the plastic housing, RF has them mounted on a metal plate, etc

dental bands remove the plastic-on-plastic sound that happens when you let go of a key

Is this true?

I am fairly sure Realforce 87u 35g boards do exist.

A uniform 30g Topre board. Woot!

So, how is it?? Give us the deets!  :p

I like it!  It is a little hard to tell right now how light it actually is because my hands are freezing (damn canada).  I noticed that I was actuating some of the keys just by resting my fingers on the keyboard initially, but I think I have already gotten used to that (about 10 min on the board so far).  It is pretty much exactly what I was looking for regarding weight.  I like really light switches, so these are pretty interesting so far.  Looking forward to putting some real time on these.  The only negative thing I have found so far with this board is that the spacebar feels very 'gougy'.  I think the way I rest my hands does not agree with this spacebar.  I end up putting my thumb right on the edge of the spacebar.  I may actually try a flipped spacebar (uggg, really?), but we will see.  Maybe I will just get used to it or I will find a different position for my thumb.

All in all, I am happy.  The seller even included an extra spacebar spring so I can put my Stainless Steel BBv2 on this board and not have to worry about it actuating the switch.  :)

Edit: about to do a bit of gaming, so the true test is happening...  :)

My 30g uniform board is not stock. It had domes replaced from a couple 30g variable weight boards.

I am not sure a tkl ANSI board exists in 30g uniform. They do in 104 ANSI and in tkl jis and/or hipro, but you may have to do dome replacements to get a 30g uniform ANSI tkl.

It goes on massdrop fairly regularly. I'd just look there every once in a while or request it be brought back https://www.massdrop.com/buy/royal-kludge-rc930-87
