Hello,
I've been introduced in the mech keyboards(again). I used them back on some older IBM giant tops and tan all in one systems. Now I see them and I find what some of these guys on here have made to be works of art. I really want to build a 65%-70% keyboard but I dont have a clue where to start from the keys needed, the layout board, etc... The only bit I do know is I'd like to use brown or Red cherry's. If anyone can point me in the right direction, many things.
Here is the keyboard I'd like to build or buy. Must be back lit as well.

Welcome to GH
On Massdrop there's a drop for a 65% kit, you should give it a look if you really want to build one. It will have everything you need, you'll just need to provide a soldering iron.

Welcome to Geekhack!
To design (?) and build your own keyboard takes a lot of different skills and equipment. You're probably better off constructing a keyboard that someone else has designed to get the feel of the parts and what's involved in putting one together.
If you're interested in the WhiteFox keyboard, you can read more about it here (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=77434.0).
And for general information about building keyboards, browse the threads in making stuff together (https://geekhack.org/index.php?board=117.0).

I was waiting for the pok3r RGB or a leopold and went with the whitefox. I recommend you check it out. It is the work of much time and contributions on this forum
