Love all this Christmas spirit :)

Will edit after work or when I finish xmas shopping :)

~Edit (sorry kinda longish):

Every year we would open our Christmas presents nice and early as to get a better chance to try them out prior to getting in the car and visiting the only family we had in Australia, located about 1.5 hours away.

And so it was Christmas day, '92 ...I received my Gameboy (v1) with accompanying Kirby's Dream Land game...I slowly and carefully unpacked everything and gleefully removed the 'plastic bits' from the Gameboy screen and started reading the back cover of Kirby's Dream Land. I remember thinking, 'who/what is this Kirby, and how is a fluffy pink thing going to stop an evil king that has the power to steal stars?'...the answer came to me almost immediately 'me, I'm going to stop this evil king and return these stars to the land of dreams, it's up to me!'.

I was rather meticulous in not losing anything and making sure the packaging was put away before we left and was super excited to game for 1.5 hours before spending Christmas with the family. A quick call from my dad to hurry and we were in the car, me in the middle clutching my Gameboy and Kirby with the strong thought of defeating the evil king that stole the stars from the good folks of Dream Land. After the mad rush to get into the car and settle down I had realized that there were no batteries in the Gameboy...needless to say I was really upset. I recall rereading the back cover of Kirby's dreamland at least 1 thousand times and thinking of ways I would make the king pay!

We arrived at my family's place and I went into a mad panic to find some batteries, of which there were none, and yes I poached the ones from the remote but couldn't find enough :(

It was the longest day of my life, finally arriving home after talking everyone's ear off about the mad king (even though I had no idea what the game would entail - aside from the blurb at the back)...my dad immediately found me some batteries and I went on to journey into Dream Land...

Oh man!

You guys are so generous, I'll gladly share a good story soon.

EDIT:

I was waiting and thinking about what memory I should post and well, I decided to go with my favorite and most inspiring one. I'll keep it short.

It was Christmas '97 and I was 4 years old. My parents gave me this space shuttle kit and it basically defined what I was going to do in the future. Studing, college, career. I don't know why they decided to give me this, but I can definitely say that it changed my whole life.

Hell, this toy was the main inspiration for the Godspeed keyset (http://imgur.com/a/0p2VT)!

Man, I really love space-y things. Playing with my parents and this shuttle is a very special memory.

Santa Sifo!  :) Christmas has always been my favorite holiday.

Christmas was hyped the whole month of December in my family. My mom was superstitious with holiday rituals she had done since she was a kid. Even now, drinking hot chocolate and watching the old Jules Brass stop motions sounds magical.

When Christmas Eve finally came, my family, along with my Aunts, Uncles and all my cousins would go to my grandparents' house for Christmas dinner, which was a true Polish American feast. Afterward, the adults enjoyed eggnog, cookies and Christmas music while my cousins and I played with toys like legos or Pokemon. At about 9 or 10 the kids were escorted upstairs so "Santa could come" and our families would stay there overnight so we could get up early and open presents together. The pile of presents in the morning was immense with 3-4 families there.

We only did this for about 4 or 5 years before my grandparents divorced and the tradition ended for my generation but I have a feeling my mom will want to bring that tradition back when my siblings and I have kids.

I hope you guys have a great holidays and enjoy being with your friends/family/loved ones. Thank you Sifo for the kind giveaway:D

Christmas always meant competing with the infinitely superior other side of the family whose kids just dumped on me in all the games we would play. SO I STEELED MY HEART AND DEDICATED THE NEXT TEN YEARS OF MY LIFE TO PLAYING GAMES (and nothing came of it).

I'm trying to think back to a story worth telling, but I don't really have any.

My Christmas Eve (Noche Buena) and Christmas Day are spent with family. We exchange gifts, have lunch and dinner together, and move on to another house in order to visit all the family members (grandparents, cousins, friends, etc). There's no year that stand out above the rest. They're all nice, relaxing Christmas celebrations.  :D

So every year, my family used to buy a few boxes of chocolate turtles during Christmas time.  When it came to food, our dog at that time was rather... pushy.  That year, when dinner was being made, I heard my grandmother laughing in the den on her own so I figured that I'd go see what was up. There, I saw my grandmother laughing in the corner with a box of chocolate turtles as my dog used her nose to keep her there.  Fortunately I rescued my grandmother from my own dog and she didn't get to try any chocolate turtles at that time which was a good thing since chocolate is toxic for dogs.  However, it wasn't long before my dog hatched another plot.  The very next day, a full box of chocolate was left out just low enough for her to swipe it down from the counter with her paw.  When we got back and saw one happy dog and one mangled, empty box of chocolates, we were terrified.  However, it turns out that chocolate turtles have next to no, if not, any cocoa in them.  My dog joyfully enjoyed the rest of her holidays without missing a beat.

I don't have many Christmas stories, so that was the only on that I could think of.  Thanks for hosting the giveaway, Sifo!  :D Now let's hear those stories!!!

When I was a kid I wanted a paintball gun, but my parents said I wasn't mature enough. I didn't know what the word mature meant. So I looked it up and the dictionary but I couldn't understand what I needed to change. Next year, I ask again, same thing. So I wrote a letter to Santa, "Dear Santa, my parents are STUPID and won't give me a paintball gun but I know you will :)"

I got a letter back from Santa, "I spoke to your parents. You are not mature enough for a paintball gun."

It's not a very good story, but it relates to a gift i got this year.

I guess it's semi close to bcredbottle's as i had been wanting a BB gun for christmas, i didn't end up getting one that christmas, i ended up getting used computer parts and appliances from goodwill. Which i didn't mind in the least bit, iv never been into toys but i've always been into taking apart electronics and appliances, and for some reason had an obsession with vacuum cleaner's. I ended up getting my vary own vacuum cleaner when i was about 9 lol. But anyway as for the story, i ended up getting a BB gun at the age of 8 or 9, but shortly after it disappeared. Now one of the things my grandparents sent me this year.... was the exact same bb gun rifle that had disappeared. It turns out that my grandmother didn't like the idea of me having my own bb gun yet, so it ended up in there attic where it was only supposed to stay for another year. Well i ended up opening the box they had sent and it was right there on top, with a note explaining how they ended up forgetting about it.

Hey Sifo! Thanks for doing this giveaway :D My story is about a dog named:

My family always has a Christmas eve party at my house and its been that way since I was born. I was about 9 when this happened so some of the details are pretty fuzzy. Around 13 years ago when we were living at my old house this little puppy strolls up to the party. Extremely dirty, but rather friendly she just walked up to people in the backyard like their was no problem. My grandfather fed her some of the food we were eating much to the dismay of my mother. She ended up staying in our backyard that night and would not leave! I woke up the next morning and saw my grandfather had made her a little place to sleep outside using a box and newspaper. She stayed at our house for a week outside. Luckily, Florida winters don't get very cold so she was fine outside. She just would not leave us. We could not keep her as my Dad is allergic to dogs. During that week we did our best to find her original home, but no one came forward to claim her. She ended up living with my aunt and her fiance at the time just a few minutes away from us. She lived with them for the next 12 years and this passed year she passed away. God bless eve the Christmas dog <3

Well I can only remember of one.

Every christmas my mom always hides the presents somewhere until it's almost time to open them. It can be anywhere in the house, and recently each of us hides the present from someone else and then we all gather up to open them :p It's always a bit of a surprise to see them and everyones reactions :D

But! one christmas when we where about 11 years old, me and my brothers where in the car(mom when to get something) and mindlessly took a peek in the back of the car for no reason at all, and there they where, all the gifts! still to be wrapped! When my mother came back we just sat there quiet, and when christmas came, we where just trying to cover up and look exagerately surprised when oppened each gift xD Took some time for parents to realise it but was awesome anyway :p

Maybe not one of the funniest moments from christmas, but definitely one I always remember this time of the year, glad i could share it ;)

When I was 14, my mother was on sabbatical teaching at the University of Cairo and so we all went to visit her for Christmas. Coming from Canada you can imagine how weird my first non-white Christmas was. We visited the Great Pyramids, the Sphinx, and rode on camels. I still remember it well because of how un-traditional it was.

Don't think I saw a tree while I was there   :))

I grew up in Alabama and Tennessee, but when I was 10 we were with family friends in Miami for Christmas.  We took our entire Christmas dinner (ham, sides, etc.) along with the fine china and silver and went to the beach.  We had a five star Christmas dinner beach picnic!  It was a really unique and memorable experience.  I've always wanted to do it again!  Now that we live in Florida, maybe we'll do it one of these years.

One of my favorite memories was the Xmas 1992. Me and my nephew got a Sega Genesis with Mortal Kombat and after about a half hour of us freaking out we played it all day and thru the night. I remember the Goro fights were INTENSE. And my mother threatening to take it away after she saw us use the blood code and the gore. Good memories!

Growing up the Family and I would always go to my aunt and uncles house on Christmas Day. At their house they had this giant ice slide which started at the top of a hill and would end towards the middle of the hill, this slide usually had a small just at the end so you would get a little air. Well one year the older cousins  decided to build a larger jump at the end so they could go higher/farther.
Now, usually the adults would not let me ride down this very large slide. But this year I was 9 and I got to go down this slide. Not knowing how much larger the jump was than normal, I got sufficient air and landed farther than most people did. It was a lot of fun. I miss that slide.

(Not a good story, but one of the more memorable Christmas stories I have )

the first i ever saw my father cry was because of xmas. we were dirt poor and he had no money to get us gifts. my family is close, so we were all in this tiny house just having a ****ty xmas. i walk outside and see my dad cry because he felt like he failed us. obviously he didn't, we had a roof over our heads and food on the table. i was never one for gifts anyway, even as a child. but i know it must have sucked for him. but the good thing that came from it is i appreciate the **** out of anything anybody gives me. especially if it's people i hold near and dear to my heart. and i also try hard when it comes to gifts, just wanna see people not have a ****ty time and get **** they like.

Oooh pink <3

My favorite holiday memories of Christmas involve just seeing our whole family. Every year, first everyone would go to Nana and Grandpa's house for gifts and dinner. The entire extended family would come... I have 16 first cousins on one side of the family, there's a lot of us. Then after, we would all go to Grandpa's sisters house for a second Christmas dinner and dessert. It was always a long drive into Queens when I just wanted to go home and play with my new toys.. but then we'd get there and it would be so much fun. And a big Italian family, so a TON of amazing food and dessert!

Now, most of my cousins live in other states with kids... Grandpa and his sister have passed. We still all go to Nana's for Christmas day, but not as many of us since so many live so far. But now I have so many nieces and nephews, and it's fun to watch them all open their gifts and be all excited about Christmas :) The next generation in our family is growing up... and in another 10 years, there will be even another generation.. crazy to think about.

This ^ I never ask for presents because of this, as I am growing up, for me it's been more and more about company and spending time with my family, It's more important for me to have someone eating, drinking and having fun with us at the table, like it is happening just now downstairs while I came to the computer(phone is broken, can only send sms trough pc, so i check GH also :p ). GTG, have a nice christmas everyone!

This holiday season is the first time in years that I didn't spend with my family. They are all over the world while I'm stuck here in Singapore with my dear wife, just the two of us.

But I will say that this will be one of the best holiday season ever cause the biggest present await the both of us. Our baby boy is due next month and I couldn't be any happier to finally be a dad. Yes yes I know I gotta cut on my spending but it'll be worth it I think ;)

Several years back, I had a friend who had worked at the theatre for years, and its because of him we were able to sneak into the theatre on christmas eve, and use the equipment hooked up to the projectors to watch Napoleon Dynamite on the silver screen with just 3 of us in attendance.  Afterwards we went up into the projector area and ransacked all of the old movie posters, and I made out with the awesomest haul ever!  Sadly I think that was the last christmas he worked for Regal, so no more midnight xmas eve movies for us :(

Gadamn that is the perfect color for my layout! Thanks for doing this :)

I will never forget that year when my grandfather was going home the day after Christmas, assumingly a bit hungover. He was a good driver and took pride in never been in a traffic accident

At the breakfast my grandmother asked him if she should drive (who was sober on Christmas), he being a bit macho said "no way, I dont want to get a scratch on my car". Fast forward a few hours and we had said our goodbyes and they where about to drive away. He starts backing up slowly and all of my family was slowly getting worried that he would hit our oldest apple tree. Time slowed down, car slowed down, our screams slowly gained volume as he not only hit but keep going long enough for the tree start leaning more and more. A few moments later he realized his mistake, drove a few inches forward, opened the window and said "WHO THE **** PUT THE TREE THERE?" and drove away noticeably pissed

This is now a saying in my family: "Har trädet alltid lutat eller har Lars-Olof varit på besök?" (Has that tree always been crocked or have you had a visist from Lars-Olof?)

RIP Lars-Olof and Dalia

Hella sweet giveaway Sifo, thanks for doing this!

I don't have any particular or noteworthy Christmas stories but..

True story.
Many many years ago in a cold ass December. I was up to no good, hanging around at the local mall with some friends until some drunk hobo wearing a Santa hat wished us all a happy easter. That's right, he came up to us and screamed "happy easter!" and then just ran away. We shrugged it off, laughed for a bit and 5 minutes later we saw some cops handcuffing the hobo while he was screaming "happy easter!" at the top of his lungs. He got carried away and we never saw or heard him again.
Since that day me and my friends have carried on his legacy, it became an inside joke and we have been wishing each other a happy easter every year during the holidays. It's pure tradition at this point, I even post it on social media(s) on Christmas eve, wishing everyone a happy easter.

So.. I wish you all a very happy easter! Especially to you, Sifo!

Thanks for doing this Sifo!

2 years ago, I was spending the night at my friends place for Christmas! We just drank so I didn't want to drive home (I rode at the time). I was too drunk to move my bike into his garage. I woke up Christmas Morning hung over as hell and ready to go home to spend some time with my family. I stepped outside and my bike was STOLEN!

Throughout the night someone stole my bike... Someone got a super nice present, pretty much brand new bike that was decently modded. And to make worse, all my friends laughed at me. Looking back, its funny now, but at the time I was super pissed off.

my most memorable holiday moment was when i was 16, i told my parents i didn't want fancy gifts like all the other kids.
i just wanted clothes, and something that wouldn't get broken after a short amount of time, and only bring part time enjoyment.
so my family ended up getting me some hand tools, and some clothes, socks, underpants and the like.
it was the best holiday ever. and its been like that ever since.
we always get everyone something that can get used every day. or make something that has more meaning.
jam, liqueurs, food, and other.
and its somewhat amusing because i still use some of the tools i got from that year. and that was about 18 years ago now...
i just wish that other families and friends could see the greatness of this type of gift giving.
i have many friends that think they have to spend their whole year savings on high end electronics and other things, just to make people happy... its so damn anti climactic. because those gifts usually don't make people happy for long.
it is a damn shame we have all been brainwashed by the media to think that way.
its almost turning me into a grinch. haha

yeah I never want something that strongly affected by personal taste/hobby as gift too, like clothes for examples, if my mom go pick some shirt for me, thing could turn out that I don't like it and I would never wear it, which I think would kind of sad.

That happened to me, not from my mom of course, she knows me, but from some of my girlfriends, and I end up have socks, underpants,... which I never put on

Favorite Christmas memory? Let's go with Christmas 1997.

I was five at the time, and was pretty clueless about video gaming (and everything, I mean I was five) aside from the kid in preschool who had an original Game Boy. I don't even remember what I had asked Santa for Christmas that year, probably some dope ass hot wheels or a new action figure.

What I do remember is opening a big box under the tree with my older brother, and finding the glory of my childhood - the Nintendo 64 - sitting there in all its beauty. I had NEVER seen a video game console before this, so I distinctly remember trying to figure out what it was until I saw the controllers and a copy of Diddy Kong Racing (best game ever) in another gift. So naturally we sat in our little red kids couch watching our dad swear, trying to figure out how to hook it up to the CRT. And then we played, all day, for days on end with my dad until we beat that game.

That day is what started a life-long love of video games and electronics, which is a huge part of what led me into my career as an engineer. Still play Diddy Kong Racing all the time, I've got TT on lock! Thanks for doing the giveaway Sifo, that was pretty cathartic to write out :)

Lol ok only because its for Christmas.

So when I was like 8/9, I woke up in the middle of the night before Christmas morning because I had to go to the bathroom; we had a family dinner the night before, so I had to a take a fat ****. But I was still hungry and wanted to see what dessert was in the fridge, so I went to the kitchen real quick.
I found cookies and then was thirsty after like 4, I grabbed a pint of WHAT I THOUGHT was milk. But when I drank that ****, it was EGG NOG, and when I was young, it was milk or gtfo. Sooo Idk wtf, but I gagged because egg nog, and it made me shart my pants at the same time. I remember it too because it was the day I witnessed a shart in real life. I ran to the bathroom and found it to be confirmed. But i ate cookies so it was ok

Yay Christmas stories!

This year my girlfriend and I are visiting her brother who is stationed in England. With the cost of traveling, out budgets are all pretty tight. So, for Christmas dinner instead of spending loads on a fancy dinner, we made X-mas nachos which turned out to be a great decision!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Some of my favorite holiday traditions I have with my high school running friends. Even though I graduated high school 4 years ago, we're still best friends. One event is the Egg Nog Mile we host. I'm sort of the planner, we have a media guy, and a few talk-show type hosts. This year we tied our record of people at the event with around 70 people (it's our 5th year). But, I managed to land one sponsor for our little event. I also got more people on board with trying to help me plan the event throughout the year and not just jump on the hype train at the end.

Bonus facts: We have had one runner compete who has qualified for the Olympic Trials in the marathon.
We have also had multiple All-Americans at the NCAA Division 1 level (cross country and track).
I am one of three to compete in every edition of the Egg Nog Mile (out of an original 8, 5 have gone soft).

Looking forward to next year and hopefully getting a better website up and running and make it more "official".

My favorite Christmas memory was one year in Georgia it snowed and my mother's family came down and the parents and kids were all in the living room opening presents and exchanging stories from the past year. Overall a great time of recollection which hasn't happened for about a decade now unfortunately.

One of the best Christmas memories I've had was Christmas morning 1995, when I got a Game Boy bundle with Tetris. Bulky, heavy, gray-on-yellowish-graphics, Game Boy. I honestly thought to my 9-year-old self, “This is like having a Nintendo I can walk around with. Nothing can ever get better than this.” In a way, I was right; technology and game design improved, but the feeling of that moment has never been duplicated for me.

All my favorite holiday memories is when my cousin, uncle, brother, and myself always mysteriously go missing from the holiday gathering to meet on the side of the house for a little dreadlock circle. Sadly I can not partake in this holiday tradition anymore due to some career choices, but I always find myself out there to stand with them for the free smells.

And then we eat~~~~   :p

Favorite memory was when my brother and I got first Xbox console along with Halo: Combat Evolved.  We were obsessed with the game ever since one of our friends let us play it, but only had a PS up. Until then, definitely spend the rest of the day playing against each other and single player.  I do remember us always crashing the warthogs on blood gulch seeing how far we could throw each other.

Probably not the best memory I have, but its the only one that I can really remember worth writing about.

Thanks for the giveaway, Sifo.

Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays and good luck to all.

I will do a Christmas memory me and my brother share.

A Christmas about ten-fifteen years ago now, we were both wondering what we were going to get from our parents. After we had unwrapped everything, my parents gave us one small round present each. When we opened them, I had something white, my brother had something black. Turns out in the other room, my parents had bought us a snooker table. A mini one of course, about four and a half feet long, but me and my brother remember it every year.

It's not a fantastic story, but it's the one time I remember truly going mental over a present as a child/teenager.

When I was much younger, there was one Christmas my dad waited until after everything had calmed down and then brought out one final present. It was a brand new, just released, SNES and I nearly lost my mind. Me and my baby brother played that all day and all night. It is one of the few times in our entire lives we got along.

Waited till after Christmas day to post here as I was expecting to have a new funny story about meeting my gf's relatives for the first time. Kinda got one...

Basically I went to meet my girlfriends extended family for the first time. Turns out that means an evening meal with 35 french speakers and my grasp of french is poor at best (FML). Maybe a few of you (on this keyboard enthusiasts forum, haha) can relate to the type of social anxiety that can bring on  :p  Anyway, a few beers, hand shakes and cheek kisses later things are going ok. Only one (older) relative roasted me for having terrible french skills. As we sit down for dinner (again, 35+ people....) one of my gf's cousins stands up to make a speech. He has some disabilities but we already talked a bit about video games and I expressed as best I could in French that that Mario Maker is indeed a dope af Christmas present. Anyway, just before he stands up he was whispering something with the person next to him and looking a bit flustered... This guy stands up and gives a nice little speech about having a nice meal and gifts (in French, obviously, so some of the details were lost to me) and then he ends with "joyeux noel et merry christmas"... Makes sense what he was whispering about now. He learned how to wish me a happy holiday in my native language! Everyone is cheering and clapping, a bunch of people look to me and yes, on queue, some of those feel good happiness tears that no amount of 'manly reserve' can hold back. Then, I tuck into some traditional pig knuckle stew... life is good.

TL;DR got accepted into my new family, cried, had a good holiday  :thumb:

For my 10thish xmas my parent's told me that there wasn't going to be a xmas present for me.
After doing a crapton of chores and falling asleep I wake up to a N64 with Majora's mask on my bed.
Not the most extravagant present but to me it was super awesome especially because it was my first console.

i want my submission to count for codingcpa. if that doesn't fly, i don't want to participate in the tournament. gl bbs

I was 9 years old and the Pokemon fever had just taken root within the U.S.  All of my friends had either Red version or Blue version and their parents were cool enough to buy them the small Pokemon figures that had remarkable detail for '98 toys. I went to class every day and was bitten by the envy bug more and more. I legitimately couldn't go to school without being depressed and without being overwhelmed with the thought that I was always going to be left out.

That October/November my parents asked me what I wanted...I knew there was nothing more that I could possibly want than a purple, translucent Gameboy Color and Pokemon Red, Charizard appealed to my young heart much more than Blastoise. I waited patiently for the day to arrive to see if Santa cared enough about me to deliver.

Christmas morning...I bolt down the hallway with my little brother and stare in awe at the small pile of presents, felt more like a mountain at the time, under the tree. We move in closer and divide our gifts into respective piles and quickly shred through all of the red and gold wrapping paper. I open each gift as the anxiety builds. I finally get to my last gift. I was devastated. The last gift was nothing more than a Christmas card, or so I thought...I open it up and lo and behold there's a note from Santa.

It read: "A true Pokemon master would need to catch them all. Good luck."

Baffled, I questioned my parents about it, to which they promptly responded, "Oh yeah! Santa left this with us...."

My mom handed me a gift bag and I tore through it like a mad man. Sitting at the bottom was my exact wish. A shiny, new purple translucent Gameboy Color and Pokemon Red. I screamed with joy and quickly opened it all up to actually start my first adventure. I skipped through the opening dialog and promptly entered my name and chose Bulbasaur as my first partner in life. An unbreakable smile stretched across my face as the best phrase ever scrolled across my screen...

"{Incredigasmic's Real Name} saved the game!"

xmas 3 years ago, when my gf and I had been dating for almost a year. had no idea what she was going to get me for xmas.

she had noticed my interest in Gunpla I had at the time, where I bought a couple of models over the course of the year. I enjoyed it a lot, but she didn't care much for the "little robot things" I'd faun over. she thought they were pretty silly and impossibly fiddly to put together.

come christmas though, she presents me with a brand new MG gundam wing, one that I'd actually looked at and wanted, ****. I was amazed that she had actually gone and found a gift so well fitted to my current hobby.

that wasn't all though. I noticed that the box was already open. I open it up to find that the model was actually already assembled!! she had actually put this thing together. she tells me that she found it hard as ****, but fun. I look closer, and see that a couple of delicate parts were once broken, now glued together. also, almost all of the alternate weapons were attached, or glued to the model, making it look pretty hilarious. she said I should fix it up, but I chose to keep it in its original glory.

I thought it was really sweet how she put so much effort into my present.  :-*

I was down at my sisters place for this christmas dinner and I decided to have a big wine glass of well... wine (some sort of peach watermelon sparkling wine) and I thought that was gonna be the only alcohol I would consume, nope. After our ham dinner I went to go get a glass of water but instead my mom couldn't finish her bottle of Twisted Tea, and passed it to me, and I finished it for her. then my sister made me split a glass of wine with her cause she couldn't finish hers. After I hung out with some of my moms friends talking about video games and movies. I decided to get up to go to my friends house down the road. Grabbed a Twisted Tea for myself and walked down to his place. Friends family wasn't done their dinner yet, so I basically had two dinners that night ham and turkey. Anyways I was chilling at his house but his mom gave me a glass of some sort of alcohol, which I assumed was wine since it tasted fruit like but not artificial. and then I went to his room chilling listening to music and downed another twisted tea that was only slightly cold and played some Mario Kart 8 with him having a good time. Then we headed down to another friends house to pick him up to hang out with. And then we decided to race eachother down an icy road and I ate **** cause I was slightly drunk and my legs felt like they were retarded and we all laughed but I didn't realise at the time I landed right on my knee that was already injured prior because I was slightly drunk and having fun. So then the day later I have a really ****ed up knee and to this moment it is still sore and aching. Moral of the story. Don't race friends down an icy road with a bad knee while drunk. You'll hurt yourself.

I still remember the little rover, the two astronauts, the tiny helicopter and the satellite! Not to mention the super sick stickers.

Riding in my fiancee's dad's truck (who speaks little English) on a 1 hour drive to his house to grab an extra table for Christmas, listening (on the radio) to how masturbation is a sin, and that only Jesus can save you (he's very religious).

It's my favorite because it makes my fiancee and I laugh every time we think about it.

Hey Simmy, thanks for organising this giveaway!
I always wanted a stump so here's my story  :)

So this year as the past 5 years, I'd either go to London or travel around Europe with my high school friends during the winter break.
Well most of my friends have already left the UK so it was just me and a buddy this year.
I always wanted to ski so I decided to try it out this year! I have no experience of skiing prior to this and the last time I did something close to it (sledging :))) I went off the sledge path.
So in the end, I've decided to go to the High Tatras Mountains in Slovakia because it was cheaper compared to the French & Swiss Alps.
Anyways, it was also beginner friendly (apparently).
Signed up for 4 lessons which lasted for 4 days.
And oh boy, the first 2 days were hellish for me and not to mention walking on the shoe itself while carrying ski's was a pain.

Heavy ski boots

Constant slips and falls while trying to keep my balance and trying to control my directions  :-\
It was not until day 3 where the ski instructor said she would bring me up to the mountains.

Ride via the cable car!  :)

It was amazing! Although the first few attempts I fell at least 3-5 times before making my way down.
By the end of the lesson (Day 4) I could ski down on my own without fall and it was the greatest feeling. (Although at my own pace which was slow  :p)
But it was something that really fun. I wish I could do it occasionally but probably will not be able to in the coming years as I would be going back to my home country after my studies. (no Winter season back home)  :(

Either way, the view was amazing from the top and foot of the mountain.

Here's a pic taken during the clear day.  :)
Seems really bright and warm but it was -1 or something

I would of course like to continue skiing in the near future!
I'd probably want to try other places probably in the states as I have relatives there.

Anyhoo, thanks again for organising.  :)
As I'm finishing this post it's gonna be 12 soon in the UK so,
Happy New Year and Good Luck everybody!

Every Christmas my friends and I chip in for a cabin up in the mountains of California. As of December 2014, I finally learned how to snowboard properly, feels so good man. Although the snow in my area sucks, mainly because it is ice, so I kinda wanna go even more  north to snowboard in powder snow.

The place I ski doesn't have pure snow towards the mid and bottom part of the mountain.
I was told it was technical snow, made by machine. It is only in the higher parts of the mountains where the real deal is however it is really steep so I did not even bother.  :))
Ah snowboarding is something I would want to try after I can ski "properly".
Trying to get used to parallel then I would want to learn carving later on.
Always afraid when I put my ski's parallel and it picks up speed.  haha
It's great to live in countries where it has 4 season. I'll miss UK very much.  :'(

This was sometime in the spring.  I am part of a program called Teach For America, and was placed in a community where science is not the biggest care in the world.  Half my class had no idea what evolution was, and the other half barely understood it.  So I have a little lesson on the basics of evolution, adaptation, darwin using cute drawings, horses, giraffes, evolutionary arms race, etc.

Kids loved it, made sense to them and many had questions after class for me.  I did this lesson on a Friday and when they came back on Monday, I had a grandmother waiting for me at the door, angry because as her granddaughter said on Friday, "I had fun in class today!  My teacher, Mr. Slickmamba told us that God wasn't real."

Obviously those words never came out of my mouth, I actually said the opposite and told them about how many scientists are actually religious and believe evolution to be part of the intelligent design, etc etc.

Anyway, she admitted that I didn't say that, and the grandma went back to being happy with me.

Hi there.

Every year my dad and brothers make Ginger Bread houses. When we started doing this my dad wanted us to plan out how we were going to make our houses, starting with planning it out days before with pens and paper. One year when I was maybe 9, I decided that I didn't want to plan out where all the candy was. So once we started, it was obvious that I didn't have a plan, so I was just putting candies wherever I wanted them to be. I am having so much more fun than the rest of my family that the next year they all decided to do it the "dohbot" way, I remember my dad put one of those gummy sunny side up eggs on the roof of his house and then laughed about it for a bit. This then stuck and then every ginger bread house we would make from then on would be my way of doing it. Granted all the houses now look like absolute ****, but we have a lot more fun making them.

Thats my story.

Thanks so much for the giveaway!

On Christmas eve I returned home after a 22 hour flight to visit my parent for the holidays. It was full of cheer and joy as we saw it each other, the tree was set up, the present were set and the weather was warm (don't hate me pls). They told the rest up and that tonight we'd open the present at midnight as per usual. I was ecstatic and rushed to my room to take a quick nap, my heart full of warmth and smile full of glee. Then i woke up, and I realized that it was the next day and I had missed out on opening presents. I also realized that there was a reason why they hadn't woken me up and that was because they had forgotten buy presents. I was just so tired I hadn't notice that the 'presents' under the tree were our Christmas decorations to make the tree look more lively.

TL:DR

Parents didn't wake me up to open present cause they forgot to buy some so bought them while I was sleeping

Haha, I so feel you on the speed part. When I was still a noob at snowboarding (well technically I still am), whenever I went faster than like 15mph or something I feel like my board took over my body and I would quickly bail out and hurt my butt

This holiday was definitely a bit more special and memorable as I helped my 13 year old cousin in-law build is first gaming desktop about a week before X-mas.  A few months back he asked advice for a gaming computer and originally wanted a gaming laptop but after finding that his budget was only about $300, I convinced him to build his first gaming PC.

Building this PC brought back childhood memories since I was around the same age when my father's co-worker also helped me build my first PC with all my saved up allowance.  In the end, it really taught me about responsibilities  as a young kid and was an invaluable lesson in my life.

Anyhow, we were able to complete his first build with him doing most of all the heavy lifting and with my watchful guidance.  He had saved a bit more since then (~$450) and with a help of some added donations from me (old monitor, GTX 560) and a friend's SSD, he was able to get the computer up and running on the first attempt.  Definitely a proud moment for a 13 year old. :D

The best part is that the responsibilities don't end here as he has set a financial plan for the next 3-4 months to work part time and save up his allowances on his next big purchase --- getting a new GPU (GTX 960, maybe 970).

Anyhow, after getting his steam account installed and pre-loaded with classic (HL1/HL2, Skyrim, Starwars, TF2), he's already given me quite a few laughs as he thinks he has created Garry's Mod and pretends he owns the place.  Sigh, Kids and their Minecraft these days  :p

Thanks for the giveaway! Happy New Year's Everyone!!!

This year I was greeted when I got to my parents by my younger brother. He and oen of my older brothered moved out to Cali years ago. The older brother passed away and the younger I hadn't seen with the exception of the funeral. He has been having some serious emotional health issues recently and I've felt really bad about not being in touch so it was a great feeling to see him walk up to the door as a surprise. I got to spend two days with him and family before heading home, made for a great and rare holiday!

GRATS CONNLY33

Well i ended up opening the box they had sent and it was right there on top, with a note explaining how they ended up forgetting about it.

sorry for not screenshotting randomizer pls believe me no rig like demik
