Post by: ceflame on Thu, 24 December 2015, 16:45:30

Was just checking up on Taobao and came up on this. Can anyone translate how to order/leadtime etc.?

12/28/15 - Looks like it is still possible to join into the Chinese group buy. Their estimated delivery is mid-late January according to the description.

I've been waiting so long for a case like this for my RS96. I was planning on selling mine but that may change now. If anybody can find a way to proxy this without too much cost count me in. ;D

How do i get in on this?

I have two redscarves, and I hate the stock cases.

I don't know anything about taibao'ing, and would be more than happy to pay big money for a case for my pcb's.

I just had a long chat on IRC from another user in China. He said that they are still currently available but the prices have been jacked up a lot compared to the previous group buys. The PCB + Top Part of Case + Plate is around $150 while the acrylic bottom is $114, aluminum base is $130, and I didn't get a price for the flat acrylic bottom. I believe the only way to get it is by buying the whole kit and those prices weren't even including shipping.

Hmm.. I'm going to order to silver basic package + silver aluminum base.

I think the basic package (850 yuan) comes with the aluminum top, pcb, and flat acrylic bottom.

Let me know how it works out, I am still very interested. There is also a new 96% chinese board coming out that I was told about, called the ZZ96. Aluminum case with an acrylic diffuser at an even cheaper price.

This was the picture that was shown to me:

I remember seeing the ZZ96. I was going to try ordering one a while back, but it had already gone into production. Can't seem to find it again.

I use Taobaoring for my proxy and they work very well.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was going to use taobaofocus, but I think taobaoring looks better.

I've just placed an order for 2 of them, never bought off taobao before.

It seems if you want the aluminum base, you have to buy the basic package and add the case on top of it.

Just placed my order as well. Taobaoring confirmed that the RS96 was available for purchase.

For anyone wondering about the cost.. $342.43 + ~$50-65 shipping as paypal payment for Basic package, plate, and aluminum bottom.

Definitely rivals in cost for Lightsaver, and I'm HOPING for this to be my last keyboard.

The PCB is included in the 850CNY options.

基本套装:RS96PCB+铝合金外壳边框+亚克力板底座=850元
The basic package: RS96 PCB + alloy shell frame + acrylic board base = 850 yuan

Yup, like Steezus commented earlier, for just a basic RS96, around $150 for plate/pcb/top alu housing/flat bottom acrylic housing.

Though, it gets a bit pricier. Taobao agents inflate the CNY exchange rate, and then you have to pay international shipping and commission.

AFAIK there is a GB for the ZZ96 soon so hold your horses if you want that, but the killer is there is no ISO support. Still better than searching it out yourself and paying insane for import

The new RS96 is getting in the same price range of Duck's boards after shipping and proxy service, perhaps I'll wait it out for the ZZ96 and eventually the LS v3.

Damn, $350 (x2) is a bit steep, even if i can sell off my original RS3's

the product you are watching are not ready for purchase, it is a group-buy link.
The product will be out on January.

Hope nobody misunderstands it.

Hmm.. I guess I did word it strangely.

By "available for purchase", I meant that it was available to purchase into the group buy.
I don't think anyone here believes that custom RS96 parts are readily available to be purchased :p .

I'm pretty sure we were able to get into it. The TaobaoRing agent talked to the RS96 seller, and then communicated to me that it was still fine to order at that point.

not a big deal. while i hate the stock rs3 case, i'd much rather wait for a LSv3 or find a used LSv2 than to wait a year for this to be produced.

On the taobao page.. 预计2016年1月中旬,能快我会是第一个要的

I think this says that the estimate is mid-January 2016.. so I don't think we'll have to wait a year.

The LS v3 should be quite some time sadly, if these next few Duck GBs are like the Orion v2 then it will be 8-9 months for completion of the Octagon v2 and then 8-9 months for completion of the LS v3. I'm hoping he'll be able to pump them out faster but either way I'd much prefer to wait for the LS v3 since the Orion v2 has the best quality I have ever seen. If the new RS96 was cheaper then I would hop right on that but it's starting to get closer to the price of kustoms.

When have you ever seen a shipping date regarding custom made keyboards that was accurate?

Well.. I don't really mind waiting as long as it's within 2016.

If I already owned an RS96 like you and Steezus, I would also probably be fine waiting 2-4 years for LSv3.
But since I don't, I'd rather get a keyboard with 96 layout now rather than later.

Also, Leeku's CompactSQ estimate and turnaround was pretty accurate.

Yeah I'm sure the Chinese will be able to pump out their boards much faster, either way it should be a much shorter time than the LSv3. The new RS96 is still a great board, once you get yours in make sure to post tons of pics! :thumb:
