I didn't ask for anything this year, but I got a Columbia jacket from my sister :), Bose SoundTrue in ears, and way too much $. The jacket is actually a lot softer than I was expecting and will keep me warm during this winter. I got the earphones for myself because I was sick of the stock Apple ones falling out and got them for a nice deal. And last is $ from the fam.

First of all, merry christmas and happy holidays Geeks!
So this holidays season, I'm spending it with just my wife as opposed to my whole big family. We both arrived here in Singapore on Dec 23rd and will be here for around 2 months for what could be one of the most important moment of my life to date. We're having our baby boy delivered. This feels like college days all over again with the difference being this time it's something life changing. I know this will change our life forever but I know it's for the better. I will have to be more responsible with life and especially with my spending behavior :D
I didn't get to buy as many xmas loot this time around as most of the money have been spent on baby stuff (cause the wife practically buys everything cute that she laid her eyes on). It's something that I know I will use a lot of though since I had already planned on giving my previous iPad Air 2 (and iPad mini) for the baby once he grows up. You see, I don't like to share my gadgets so I rather give him his own iPads rather than him messing with my own.

I've enjoyed playing around with backyard metal casting and wanted to try something a little different. Once I get the crucible and figure out the best way to do a burn out at home, I'll have some fun doing some metal casting. It's a pretty cheap and ghetto centrifugal caster, but it should be fun.
Got a 4TB HDD since they're more reliable than 3TB and I've really been needing one for a while.
Lastly, I got another TWSBI Eco (that I love) and some awesome little Star Wars notebooks, stickers, and a Pez dispenser.

So I work as a Nurse Anesthetist and every day I introduce myself as Jake to many new patients. I would say that about 50% go with "Jake?? FROM STATE FARM!?!" As if they are the first people that have ever said it to me, EVERY SINGLE TIME. hahah I actually don't mind and run with it as if its the first time I've heard it but my friend thought it would be funny if they got me a shirt to further exemplify my state farm'ness. My birthday is also just before Christmas so a lot of what I get is a combo gift. The second pic of the drake sweater and cake was for my birthday. I love Drake and I love that hotling bling, enough said! I also love whiskey, so I would say it was a great haul!

Bit of background:
Christmas is huge at my girlfriends place and pretty much goes a little like the following:
1. Wake up at 5:30 A.M. (why 5:30? I have no idea, long time tradition I believe - this year we got up at 5 thereby breaking tradition)
2. Mad rush for the bathroom/shower/coffee machine
3. All congregate in the lounge room at 6:00 A.M., any later and you risk the chance of having to sit on an uncomfortable 'dinning room' chair *shutter*
4. Mum hands out 1 gift, to the person on her left, said person then guess what the present is, and precedes to open it
5. This process is repeated until all the gifts are handed out and one-by-one are opened
6. Present opening ceremony usually lasts until about 4-6 hours depending on conversation/present guess duration
7. Everyone has a nap, I was out like a light this year.
8. Around 6 P.M. we fire up the BBQ and have a great ol' Christmas BBQ :)~
9. Drinks all around, good food, good presents, good people
10. Successful Christmas :)
Jacket; I had my leather biker jacket stolen from my car when I first met my girlfriend years ago and we (moreso I) have had a running joke that she had stolen it. This, now years later, is my Christmas gift, a new leather jacket :)
Pants/Tee/Shoes; I have not bought myself a new outfit in the longest of times and was constantly being hassled by others (mum/girlfriend) to do so. This years Christmas present to myself was a pair of nice pants, tee and some dress shoes.
Caricature; A caricature that my girlfriend and I had done while on our trip to Singapore which I thought she had lost, but instead had framed for me :)
Aromatic diffuser/Essential Oils; I have no idea how I lived my life without one of these, it's beyond amazing. You pretty much put in a half cup of water and some essential nice-smelling oils and watch it puff away filling the room with wild scents and all the while putting on a nice little show.
Tea; Who doesn't like tea? well if you don't you have not tried the tea from T2! It's amazing, with flavours such as Crème Brule and Assam (yup ASS-inthe-AM :D), gotta love it.
Scented Melts; These bad boys are in the same league as the essential oils and smell amazing. I was never into the whole scent scene but the effect these can have on calming one down after a hard day is tremendous. Ps. I'm not a salesman for melts or essential oils :P
Sweets; Ferrero Roche and Butter Fudge, need I say more? delicious.
Astronomy Magazine; I got a telescope for my birthday present and was very excited, not knowing anything about astonomizing I'm sure this magazine will set me on my path.
Novel; Brandon Sanderson - The Stormlight Archive - Words of Radiance. My favorite series, first edition hard cover <3
Little and big pouch; The little one being made from an almost leather while the big one from some kind of wool maybe, with the following from the girlfriend "here's something to put your fancy key caps in :)"
Sands of Time (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMkuuUZ099U); This little beauty has a magnet on one end that attracts the magnetic sand.
Pyramid of Truth; This thing weighs a tonne and is made from two different types of rock with a wooden cap stone, just a lovely thing to marvel at for minutes/hours/days :)
Naturally what I cannot summarize by a picture is the fun we had and also the amount of food that was consumed. Here's hoping everyone has had a wonderful and joyous Christmas.

Home Alone is one of my favorite christmas movies. I think its because it reminds me of being a kid. Wife picked me up some new beard oils that she read smell good. Im always down to try new oil, so i'm happy with all the new stuff ive gotten this year. The squatty potty and poo-pourrie are gifts from my daughter, she thought it would be funny to get dad poo gifts. Little does she know, I am excited for the squatty potty. My son regifted me a fallout bobble head from his loot crate, and got me the power ranger sword. It was my favorite show growing up, and I have a stand on my desk of all the mini helmets. I'm pretty stoked on sword tbh, just need a shelf for all my nerdy stuff now. My wife also got me a foot hammock for my desk, but it is currently attached. All in all I had a pretty good christmas. We try and make it great for the kids, and tend to let them choose all of their gifts. Luckily my wife and I are nerdy, so we aren't upset when they get us toys for xmas/bdays.

My wife surprised me with the best gift a Whovian could have received this Christmas. The Lego Ideas Tardis set. Building the console was the best ever. Made sure all the money went towards the kids and wife since I buy myself plenty during the year.
Got a pretty sweet new snowboarding jacket, but that doesn't show up on camera very well.

After a few years of fighting it, I will begin reading ASOIAF. Really it's because I can't NOT hold these lovely books my wife got for me. The Amazon giftcards are helping fund a 3D printer one day. I figure 1 more birthday and Christmas and I'll have saved up enough to get a respectable one. Maybe by next year prices will have come down even more :D I also got a 2nd yeti cup as these are hands down the best cups I've ever used, and I'm too afraid to take mine to work for fear of leaving it.
Finally- the 3 limited edition HKP masks were a gift to myself. I found them by PMing a guy who hasn't posted on any mech forum for over a year- so I was super excited when he offered to sell them to me. They're really really cool!!
Christmas is all about my kids now- and I wouldn't have it any other way. My girl recently turned three so she KINDA comprehends whats happening now- it was REALLY fun pretending Santa ate the cookies and milk and filled her stocking with my little pony funkos :D :D :D Next year's gonna be even better when she can kinda help pick out gifts for her mommy and brother... oooohhhhh and also pretty happy with what I got my wife- she'd been wanting one of these for months! A cool stylized portrait of our daughter !! Pretty cool!

The bottom blue pen is a Fountain Pen Revolution Dilli pen with a flex nib. I actually kind of cheated with this because FPR was having a BOGO sale so i was able to get a pen for her as well as myself for the same price as one pen =D

The Shin Ramyun noodles are because these are my favorite noodles and all the locals stores stopped stocking it for some reason and i've been craving it for quite some time now.

The top pen is a Platinum BelAge fountain pen. Now i'm not exactly sure when it's from but i think it's from around the 80's. Really nice pen.
The bottom blue pen is a Fountain Pen Revolution Dilli pen with a flex nib. I actually kind of cheated with this because FPR was having a BOGO sale so i was able to get a pen for her as well as myself for the same price as one pen =D

A Gift from my little daughter. she is only six year old. She like drawing but it is difficult for her. Because she prefer to using her left hand to draw or write. However in our country we must use right hand to write or draw sth. i dont know why. So it take her more time or practice to draw. I enjoy her gift to me. Wish she can be healthy. After a few years of fighting it, I will begin reading ASOIAF. Really it's because I can't NOT hold these lovely books my wife got for me. The Amazon giftcards are helping fund a 3D printer one day. I figure 1 more birthday and Christmas and I'll have saved up enough to get a respectable one. Maybe by next year prices will have come down even more :D I also got a 2nd yeti cup as these are hands down the best cups I've ever used, and I'm too afraid to take mine to work for fear of leaving it.
Finally- the 3 limited edition HKP masks were a gift to myself. I found them by PMing a guy who hasn't posted on any mech forum for over a year- so I was super excited when he offered to sell them to me. They're really really cool!!
Christmas is all about my kids now- and I wouldn't have it any other way. My girl recently turned three so she KINDA comprehends whats happening now- it was REALLY fun pretending Santa ate the cookies and milk and filled her stocking with my little pony funkos :D :D :D Next year's gonna be even better when she can kinda help pick out gifts for her mommy and brother... oooohhhhh and also pretty happy with what I got my wife- she'd been wanting one of these for months! An animated portrait of our daughter !! Pretty cool!

Yes, that's a full 10 piece ceramic pots and pans set. I've been cooking with a single pan and small pot for years because up until this year I haven't had a decent paying job (TAing in grad school didn't pay too well). Santa came through with some bad ass pots and pans, so now I don't have to try to fit a pound of pasta in a small pot. Best gift I could've asked for :thumb:

I didnt really wish for anything specific except for a comic book, yet I was positively surprised with what I got. Missing from this pic is a R2D2 t-shirt and all the candy because... Well me and the waifu ate it already. I do love coffee and will try out that machine but last year I got a bean grinder and the quality is just hard to match. By far my favorite coffee related gift yet, hopefully the machine will produce good coffee :)
Also the pig is all marzipan, a tradition since I was a kid. Each year the pig gets fatter and this year its almost a kilo. Sadly Im fairly sick of marzipan, but that wont stop my mother hehe

A new friend whom was really nice invited me to her parents house for Christmas had bought me a sample pack of scotch for me, since she has gotten me into drinking scotch. It was a very nice gesture all around. Made my Christmas so much better since my grandparents are not around.

I go through a lot of gym clothes considering how often I go so the new Asics, shorts and shirts are a welcome addition.
I asked for both pairs of Vans and the Nike Romaleos as I needed new shoes and want to improve my front squat and high bar squat. I also was given a pair of Bean boots but sadly those need to be exchanged for a smaller size.
The new jeans and shirts will get a ton of use up at school as it's only gonna get colder. The ornament was a welcome surprise as well as it has a picture of my dog and will find its home on my tree when I get older.
There are more pictures of my gifts from my SS in the thread in Off Topic but I really do love what I received!

Pictured is my new mixer (only top part) for general cooking, making smoothies, shakes etc. Along with this I got a basket of fruits, to test it out. I threw every fruit in that seemed fitting. And added Jack!
Then there is a new scarf, which I was really happy about, since I were desperately looking for a nice coloured one for quite some time. Also some parfum, shirt, pullover and TEA (a variation of black tea in the pic)! I got the tea with a christmas themed mug, that is pictured on the second pic. (forgot to add it at first, but I like it, so theres two pics) AND my secret santa gift, some cool gasmasks!
Not pictured is another scarf (more of kerchief?) and a bottle of hazelnut liquor. I have yet to try the liquor, but it's high percentage so I guess I'll wait till new year.

Main feature being the controller to replace my worn down 360 controller, and a pair of remarkably cosy slippers.

i wanted this jacket. i did not need this jacket. but i love it. its lightweight and amazing at regulating temperature. its been extremely mild here so far this winter, and i figured this was a nice in between of just a sweater (too cold) or my full winter jacket (too hot.) im like goldie locks or something cause this ****s just right. oh, annnnd its great at wearing it in a rain storm. or in this case, the shower.
i got my girlfriend a new shower head last year for christmas while i puttered on with my dollar store special. this year she treated me to this wonderous thing. it massages!

well since my username and real name are the same, yeah. in this instance though, she called me luke. i only get 'lucas link!' when i've disappointed her.
I started a small workshop in my garage so my family got me a few tools to help get me started. The coolest thing by far is the granite surface plate, it's calibrated to be flat within .0001 over the entire surface. Made my first key cap a few days ago. These were a gift from my brother and his wife. He works for the government at a national laboratory. A few years ago I mentioned to him to keep any old keyboards he comes across as he always finds old electronics goodies they're throwing away. With his limited knowledge on my obsession of old clicky keyboards he managed to rescue these 3 from being thrown away and even more impressive none are rubber dome.

Got a few more things but nothing worth showing (i.e. boxer briefs, undershirts, gift cards etc).
The bottle of Hendrick's is nice for G&Ts and Negronis. A very nice gin for a reasonable price.
The 32oz Hydroflask has been amazing so far. The thing feels like it could survive a nuclear attack (hence the Vault Boy sticker). It's great, though. Keeps water cold for many hours.
The last gift worth showing was the giant annotated H.P. Lovecraft collection. I've recently been enjoying his stuff and there's a great podcast, "The H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast", if anyone is interested in anything like that. This book is pretty exhaustive with a ton of interesting appendices. Worth the purchase on amazon for a fair price.

i wanted this jacket. i did not need this jacket. but i love it. its lightweight and amazing at regulating temperature. its been extremely mild here so far this winter, and i figured this was a nice in between of just a sweater (too cold) or my full winter jacket (too hot.) im like goldie locks or something cause this ****s just right. oh, annnnd its great at wearing it in a rain storm. or in this case, the shower.
i got my girlfriend a new shower head last year for christmas while i puttered on with my dollar store special. this year she treated me to this wonderous thing. it massages!

Christmas dinner was all you can eat cornish game hens. Father - in - law felt competitive and broke a crown off a tooth during bird #2. He was pissed to see decay underneath when the Dr. said he drilled it all out. After quitting (i won) he retired to his room for a day.
Also got a komodo dragon foot on a stick but my 3yr old stole it from me.

Polo shirts from my mom no picture of my dads gift since he likes to give what he calls "flat gifts". From my girlfriend I got a twsbi diamond 580al fountain pen, some diamine ink and a rhodia dotpad :D.
Her dad gave me his slide ruler which I plan on figuring out how to use. The wallet is a gift from myself and so is the 50mm canon f lens which costed $2! Lastly everything is on top of the beautiful quilt my girlfriends mom made me.
What an all around epic christmas! :D

My brothers are all really big into sweats and track shorts and all manner of athletic apparel, so my mom got me a pair of joggers. I normally don't really wear this kinda stuff, but I'm givin em a shot. I can see why people wear them, but they encourage me to just sit around and do nothing all day, and I don't need any more temptation.

I almost forgot! I got myself a Realforce 10th anniversary 55g keyboard!! I waited so long for this board and it got here just in time for Christmas :D
All in all, Christmas was a bit bumpy with family members getting sick, but my girlfriend and I took over and I think we were able to run everything pretty smoothly for the kids and the rest of the family :) (pneumonia can't stop Christmas!

My family isn't too big on gift giving. We still love each other, but we've stopped giving each other gifts specifically for Christmas now that we're older. I don't mind it, I know they still care about me but yeah, it's not a big deal. Anyway, my sister came to visit me and even though I don't think she meant it as a gift, I really appreciate her 'gift' to me this Christmas. It's just a photo of my floor + carpet and my monkey slippers. The gift is what you can't see :P My room before this was super messy that you almost couldn't see the floor. Clothes, paper, trash, toys, etc. everywhere! I have been pretty busy lately and also have never been a super clean person so I asked for her to help me. She just ended up organizing all my things in like 1 hour... I usually try to clean and then I get bored or tired after 10 mins. So yeah, weird but still a gift in my eyes.

For a small secret Santa I joined with a $35 budget, I had Ziptyze as my sender. Did he go beyond the budget! Wow! He sent me a KBP V60 with one of his cases, Jukebox SA set, a Nintendo 3ds (had been talking about getting one, and he just gave me one of his), and this awesome, sweet 3d-printed timestamp. You can use the white-board on it to rewrite the date, and it has places to place caps for your trading! It is so cool! Wasn't expecting any boxes that day and received all the goodies. The vodka is from work - we all get a bottle of something now. About 2/3 consumed already - I am trying to make it last a little longer.
The coconut ice replaces the box I got for Father's Day (September) which I still haven't finished. Not 'cause I don't like it, I just had some Tim Tams for Father's Day that I have been gradually consuming first, before they melt in the hot weather.
And the shortbread is some of the nicest I have ever had.
There were a couple of gift vouchers from interstate family members, but my other half has, rather sensibly, put them away somewhere safe.

Toys from my family, R2 from my mom and the League figures from my brother. Glad I got some new things for my bedroom over at my apartment on campus!
The camera isn't new, but the accessories are. Was talking to my Grandpa all Thanksgiving Dinner about photography and editing software, glad to hear he got into the hobby so quick. He showed me some shots he took and I showed him my post on GH on the Poker thread lol. But I told him how I do not have any accessories or lenses because they're kinda pricey.
Been wanting thr vertical grip for like 3 year and never got one, and I'm excited to see what I can do with the diffuser. Pls send Bro Cap so I can take shiny new photos

To my supprise I got just that and also a Wacom Intous drawing tablet so I can work on my digital art (I'm not good at all, still learning) and what not.
I'm currently waiting for The ISO Miami set to get back in stock so I can buy that for myself as a late christmas present or if I find a good del on an SA profile ISO keyset I'll probably go for that.
Having a job is amazing every day you're not working, especially if you work in a warehouse.

Got this from a secret Santa exchange.
Initially I posted stuff like ties and added on a soldering iron to my list and my Santa pulled through! :)

My girlfriend and I decided that we buy as some stuff that we both love and use. So its kind of a gift from us... to us. ;D
We both love retro games and somewhen last year I bought a sd2nes flashcart for the snes and now it was time for one for the N64. :) Finally we can play some games that are way to expensive on ebay or have never been released in Europe.
And in addition some Star Wars duvet cover with images from the first Star Wars movies and an Ikea death star lamp. From our families we mostly got $$ and a lot of candy.
