Title: Ducky Shine 5 or another keyboard!?
Post by: Phenix on Wed, 30 December 2015, 12:00:47
Hello.

I used an Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 with cherry blue switches for the last 2 years. Now I am looking for a new keyboard. I need backlighting(dimmable within more than 5 steps) definitly, and I want mx blues again.

After lot of resarch ai read a lot of Ducky skeyboards
Should I get a Ducky Shine 5 (comes 22/01/2015 with German layout)
Or should I get an other keyboard?
I thought about f the follwing:
A Ducky Shine 3 with white backlight would be an option(50€ less than shine5) or shine 4 (also around 50€ less)

But whats about the keycaps? I heard shine5s would be better than shine3/4s keycaps
Im living in Germany, so anything is more expensive.

Or can I get a qwertz/German layout keyboard+translucent doubleshot pbt keycap set(thinking if I need them)
Only problrm is the REALLY expensive shipping costs (depents on where I buy)
Can someone name a shop with low.shipping costs+ anything available?(Would be even better if I could get a Niealker mm15mb or mm18 torch there!?)

Hopefully someone can help me out cause I want to stay with it for.the next years. Full Sizr is preferred by the way.

Im planning to spend for the keyboard maxcaround 250$ (hopefully would be less, and I dont want to waste money for stuff I dont need). + If I decide to get pbt doublesho translucent tkeycaps I add -80$, but prefer to spend around 40$ for them.

Would also prefer getting all  in Germany, butas far as I know its nearly impossible to get the pbt doubleshot translucent keycaps from an German shop

Thanks.for.your.help!

Shine 5 is great if you want RGB backlighting.  A firmware fix will be out soon for some firmware bugs with a few lighting modes.

Another option for RGB is the Corsair RGB Strafe (cherry MX Blue, Red or Black), just avoid the K70 RGB as it has limitations with the LED controller. This was fixed in the Strafe which uses an updated LED controller.

Oh yes it is.

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Mechanical-Keyboard-Multicolor-CH-9000120-NA/dp/B014W1YLAM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1451502182&sr=8-2&keywords=Corsair+strafe+MX+blue

(of course you're out of luck if you want a German layout).

Hi

If you gonna change  keycaps, buy a k-board with a standard bottom row (Ctrl, Win, Alt, FN/Menu and Space).

Take a look in this link and you will see that corsair strafe, k70 and some more k-boards don't have a standard bottom row.

http://www.maxkeyboard.com/mechanical-keycap-layout-and-size-chart.html

You can't use the bottom row caps + Space bar from lets say a Ducky keycaps set on the corsair strafe k-board, the Ducky bottom caps and the Space bar will not fit on the board.

Ducky + some more k-boards in the link have a standard bottom row.

Gettin ISO/Nordic keycaps sets is a hell, I'm livin in Sweden and we have 2 shops that sells keycaps sets:

The first shop have 1 Ducky ABS keycaps set.

http://www.inet.se/produkt/6607452/ducky-shine4-key-cap-109-abs-set-red

The second shop have 2  Ducky ABS keycaps sets + some sets from WASD.

I have some ISO/Nordic Ducky Shine 2/3 + 1 Shine 3 from UK and like I said, it is a problem to find good lookin ISO/Nordic keycaps sets.

I have the Ducky ISO/Nordic Grey/Blue PBT laser engraved set + the yellow PBT set also from Ducky.

So last year I bought my first ANSI/US k-board, a Ducky Shine 3 with Cherry MX Red and white LEDs.

Now I have 5 ANSI k-boards, Ducky Shine 3/4 and 1 Ducky RGB "Year Of The Goat" and no problem to find good lookin keycaps sets.

Happy new year.
