Title: HHKB: Windows 7 Shortcut not working?
Post by: GenEric35 on Sun, 22 November 2009, 17:21:19
Hi, I was thinking of buying an HHKB Pro 2, but would like to know in advance what to expect if indeed the new Windows 7 shortcuts don't work. If someone had win 7 and could test this, would be great.

Here is the link i found with the list of broken shortcuts(this bug could be for the HHKB Lite 2 version only).

Thanks

For example, those should work:

【Win】+【↑】
Maximize window
【Win】+【→】
Maximize the window to the right of the screen
【Win】+【←】
Maximize the window to the left of the screen
【Win】+【↓】
Minimize window
[Win] + [Shift] + [↑]
Expand the window to the bottom of the screen
【Win】+【Shift】+【→】
 Go to the right monitor
【Win】+【Shift】+【←】
Go to the left monitor

[Win] + [1] -
To start the Quick Launch shortcut that corresponds to the number

I think this is where lack of n-key rollover is going to bite a lot of people in the ass. Looking at that list of problem key combos, I bet a lot of matrix designs are simply not capable of doing some of them.

The HHKB lite is a 'normal' rubber dome, not capacitive. It doesn't have NKRO. The fact that it needs the Fn key held down just to make what are normally single key presses makes it especially susceptible to this limitation.

The HHKB Pro has NKRO (within USB limits) and should be fine.

Seems to be the Japanese version that is affected by those simpler combos. Maybe that layout is (more) nonstandard. I didn't even know there was a Japanese version of the Lite.
