Title: Model M Led Mod
Post by: BradTheGeek on Wed, 06 January 2016, 13:10:26
Needs a touch more work, but I like it.  Thanks to E29 for model information.

Let me know what you think, and I will try to answer questions as I have time!

Not a bad day for it.

Ironically, mine is made exactly 2 years earlier!

Nice.  I'm not big on LED's, but if I were to do one, I love the whole color changing thing.

Regarding your spacebar stabilizer and the hooks the wire slips into, don't go removing LEDs just yet.   You may want to try putting a couple of washers (in your case, transparent plastic ones) over the barrels on the V and M keys so the wire can slip under that.  May be a little noisy if they're not secured, but you get to keep those LEDs.

Pretty interesting.  Not my thing, but it does light up nicely.  :thumb:

I think I may have to lose those LEDs under the top of the space bar.  The retention wire cannot attach with them in place, and washers won't help that I can see.  This leave the space bar mushy and with poor response, you have to really hammer it.
The space bar blocks most of the light from that 3-4 LED segment, so I do not think it will affect the visual aspect much.
Besides if I wanted mushy and unresponsive, I'd get a Dell QuitetKey :)

It is interesting.  I was thinking of a way to make it look even better, and the one thing that comes to mind is having it in a transparent clamshell.  It could be different colors, but you can see the guts inside through it.
That might be very cool.  I don't know.

My favorite color is electric blue.  But, I can change color to suit mood, now it is dull green :)

Shouldn't this be in "Making Things Together"?

If it should be moved, I won't be mad if a mod moves it.  Much like your avatar, I am a noob here and do not know all the subforums and local culture!
