Hi,
I'm IJdo from the Netherlands. I've had a thing for proper keyboards ever since I've used an IBM model M in the early nineties. After suffering from a glitchy cable connector, I ordered a couple of Unicomp keyboards in ~2004, when those were ridiculously expensive due to the bad exchange rate at the time. All my friends called me crazy. Funny how the complaints seize after a few good whacks with a Model M...
Having found this board I couldn't not sign up. I've been using laptop keyboards for far too long, looking into a Ducky atm.

Welcome to GH!
Have you tried any MX boards yet? If so, what are your thoughts vs the Model M?

I've done some typing on Cherry reds and blues, suspect I'll end up with browns. If CM would just make a full size Novatouch I'd be all over that, but I actually use the keypad. Buckling spring is different, but I find it's very hard to describe or quantify it.

Welcome to Geekhack!
If you are accustomed to buckling spring keyboards, most MX switches will be disappointing. MX greens are closest to BS.
However it is worth trying different switches :)

I still have a Unicomp laying around somewhere, but aside from actually not having a PS/2 port at the moment, SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) has voiced a strong opinion on the matter. This also means blues and greens are out :D.
Honestly though, I'm not actually that picky, other than it having a decent feel and feedback.

This is a good PS/2 to USB converter: http://techkeys.us/collections/accessories/products/usb-to-ps2-serial-multimode-adapter
But I understand your Leader's stance on keyboards. I was just mildly reprimanded for typing on MX blacks.
