Title: My mongrel ISO keyboard says 'Hi!'
Post by: jamie_s on Mon, 11 January 2016, 18:11:44
Long time lurker, thought I'd say 'Hi' from the UK and share with you my current mongrel of a setup - A mixture of 2 plastics (ABS+PBT), 2 types of legend printing (double-shot and dye sublimated) and 3 profiles (OEM alphas, DSA mods and Cherry ESC) all on a WASD with MX Browns :D (Many thanks to swimming-bird for the freebie ESC.) Any chance we'll ever see a white TKL ISO board?

Mongrel indeed - that sounds like a seriously awkward cap combo to use.  Looks good though :))

If you can't find a white TKL you could always paint your current case?

Anyway welcome to GH :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

I could understand DSA alphas and OEM modifiers - to help keep your fingers within the alpha area, but the other way around?

Is there a reason behind this layout?

And, perhaps more importantly, have you got plans to establish a more uniform keycap profile across your keyboard?

There's also vague plans for a UK meetup (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=75674.0) - you might keep an eye on that thread if you are interested.

@suicidal_orange

I think painting or kit board may be my only options... I'd have to find a decent guide to painting and practice on something a little cheaper than a mech before I'd feel brave enough I think :-)

@rowdy

Not really out of choice, I wanted the grey/white 2-tone look and ISO options for this have been hard to come by so far - The white alphas are a Tai-Hao ISO ABS double-shot set and the PBT mods are from 'Granite' that I was lucky enough to grab in Massdrop's Capatoa drop. Fortunately Granite has just come up again on MD so I've joined that to get the rest of the set :-) I also joined Danger Zone SA a while back so looking forward to that turning up sometime in February :cool: Then I'll have to get another board to put those on...

Ah, that explains a lot! :)
