My keboards are perfectly protected out in the open, but I think I might use this design to protect my keyboards.  Most of my keyboards are just crappy rubber domes anyways.

seems like waste of time if the same effect can be achieved simply be draping a piece of paper/card/plastic/fabric over the kb. Plus, that ain't gonan be much good when you tip your cup of coffee all over it.

If you made a lightweight frame with cling film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic_wrap) over it, you could use it as a protector and still type through it.

yeah but it feels like crap.  as if it isnt already obvious, ive used one with such a setup.  turns out a lot of people think literally wrapping your laptop with the stuff is a good way to keep sand, food, drinks from damaging it.
