Title: Hakko FX-890
Post by: Vimto on Tue, 19 January 2016, 22:19:22
Hi,

Has anyone had any experience of the Hakko FX-890.

Looking at this google translate version of the hakko page it looks like it's a special model just for China, Taiwan and Hong Kong

I'm deciding between this and the FX-888D

Also what tip do people recommend I get for my first time soldering?

I dont have any experience with the FX 890, but i have an FX 888D as of a few months ago and i really like it.

As for tip's, a wedge tip is the best multipurpose tip you can get, much better than the standard conical tip's.
