Here's the thing.. it's not that we don't care about all 7 billion, it's that each individual is not really at capacity to do so, EVEN if in truth, Every person's raw value is 1 / 7,000,000,000

Because we can't divide our attention into that many figures, it is then impractical to be totally sensitive to the wellbeing or the plight of all..

Which is why humans form small gangs and organize in corporate form..

Now as for population control.. I don't think we need it, because affluence is a natural barrier to an increase in population within the confines of our -capitalist- world.

The economy is organized such that children reduce individual wealth unless such individual is in pole position.

This malady is a cost that society must bear as it grows into complete sufficiency..

Once we get to a point where the whole world is about even, and NO ONE is willing to work for unequal pay..

THEN we can finally form Star Fleet and the Federation of planets. and Yes, Of course we're gonna have Elon Musk as captain of the Enterprise..
