Title: O-rings on Matias click switches?
Post by: macguy80 on Sun, 24 January 2016, 23:31:54
I had always assumed the O-rings were a mod specific to Cherry switches. And yet I see this video, so I guess that is an incorrect assumption?

If so, are Matias/Alps keycaps more fragile or difficult to remove and replace compared to Cherry?

Thanks!

I've always found them harder to remove. But yah I put orings on my brown alps and it makes them feel topre like.

Alps mount is quite fragile, and definitely harder to remove than MX mount.

Hmm.... I think that is one experiment I will *not* be attempting, then.

Thanks! :)

Oh it's absolutely fine if you have a keypuller, no problem at all. But in transit Alps-mount caps are liable to snap off if they're not well-packaged.

Ah, OK. I'm really  close to getting a KBParadise v80 (which is a TKL board) with Matias Clicks, but I didn't want to risk damaging it. I'll be using a standard wire keypuller, IF the right keyset comes along. ;)

Soft-landing pads work fine.
