These switches are MX Lock switches, a Cherry switch that locks upon press, and unlocks upon the second press. We are ordering MX1A-31NN, or plate mount MX Lock switches. These are the version with no LED, and with a grey top and black bottom. Please note that these bottoms are not interchangeable with standard MX bottoms.
MOQ is 100.
ETA for shipping is late March to early April.
I will be handling shipping and logistics.
Shipping is $3.50 First Class or $6.80 Priority Mail in the US. Canada shipping is $4 and Int'l is $6.50
I will be ordering a few extras for resale after the GB ends, so if you can't join in now then no worries.

All switches work with a plate, it's just whether or not they have the two extra pegs at the bottom to clip into the PCB for extra stability. Even if they were PCB mounted you could still easily clip off the legs with wire cutters.

no price drops, the distributor is pretty firm on the price(I actually made a quote request for all of their stock, they didn't budge on price at all). i'm sending it as a first class mail package from the US which is surprisingly cheap.

Make sure the PCB supports locked switches. A lot of customs can't read the locked Caps Lock, so some just use them on Scroll Lock or something. If they can't use 'em on Caps Lock, they're a novelty.

That's somewhat unprofessional. The whole point of a RFQ is to get a price you can then continue with. Changing that price afterwards sucks.
apparently the distributor that ships to them raised the price, so they had to increase their price as well. and my quote was a bit outdated, i hadn't requested a quote since the last GB, which was in august.

Just wondering, since you all mention conus so often, how much extra is it to ship something like this to Alaska or Hawaii? I live in Norway, and we have something like a mix of Hawaii and Alaska called Svalbard and it's usually more than double the price to send something there. Of course, not many people live there, so it's not much of an issue.
i don't think it's extra unless you send it via an expedited service, like priority mail.

Just got my package today, was surprised to see a small flat rate box with a first class label on it. Has USPS ever given you crap about it? The idea behind those boxes is that the cost is subsidized by the flat rate shipping you're supposed to use them for. Not sure what the consequences are for not following their rules, though...
they've given me flak about it like less than 5 times over the span of 3 or so years. i just had to pay the increased postage and that was it, so if USPS asks you for more money once you get it send me a PM with the cost and I'll pay it.

When going up against a linear mx grey switch, both switches seem to bottom out at around the same rate. The mx lock switch has a different spring than the mx linear grey though. The mx lock has a slightly brassy looking spring, while the linear grey has a much more dull colored spring by comparison (perhaps the mx linear grey spring is not stainless?). Anyways, a proper weight test would be better than my speculation. :p

Just curious, my switch seems to stick about a third of the time when returning to the up position. It usually returns to the fully up position with an audible click, after a second or two. Is that normal? Would the locking wheel or the stem benefit from some lubrication?

depending on the pcb, you might be able to get it to work. pcbs that support full-touch capslock as well as stepped have 3-4 led holes in the pcb. i have not tried it, but it looks like the octagon v2 and zz96 could do it

so an in switch led is not necessary :D

depending on the pcb, you might be able to get it to work. pcbs that support full-touch capslock as well as stepped have 3-4 led holes in the pcb. i have not tried it, but it looks like the octagon v2 and zz96 could do it

You don't need lock support in TMK afaik. You just need support for ACTION_LAYER_MOMENTARY().
I wonder if mx locks can be used in most pcb without tinkering?
I plan to use it on my nerd on the caps lock position.

On second check, the nerd pcb does support leds like you said only on off-centered caps lock.
Good thing I'll be using that layout so all in all, it all worked out :D
