Looks like a Focus FK-2001 and a Compaq, starting bid $1. Shipping $6.
Maybe it doesn't smell like hemp.

Can he roll the Compaq up and smoke it?
-
That's not a bad deal. The Compaq is a pretty good rubber dome and the Focus has some sort of white ALPS.
-
And by tactics I mean I'll just make it more expensive for you if you don't let me have it :)
What's to prevent the other guy from doing the same to you?
-
I don't know much about Focus overall but Googling reveals the 2001 is "clicky" and on this site some people have associated it with Alps. Good enough for me to be interested.
Especially if they're "simplified" - from what I read, the simplified ones are louder and more difficult to push, which is good.
It depends on what vintage of Focus you have. My Focus is from 1989 and has the complicated ALPS. They have a good feel to them and are almost as good as a Model M.
-
Going by the pics on Sandy's site, this is the original FK2001 with real-deal White Alps.
-
This auction sure is a real deal starting at just a dollar.

Yeah, Sandy has a general guide, but I followed this and I got a 2001 with normal white simplified alps, not blue simplified still, so it's not 100%. There's some variation. The indication of the windows key and everything isn't a solid 100% delineation.

But yeah it looks to me like that's a type 1, but it's tough to tell, if so it'll most likely have real complicated ones. It might also be the windows key version though in which case it'll have fakes.

Did yours also have an AT connector?

Did yours also have an AT connector?
Yeah, I think so. I gave it to my mom. lol
-
Does she use it on her computer?
-
I have a similar Compaq keyboard, they always warn you about how to use a keyboard properly as to reduce risk of injury.
-
Simplified vs Complicated - is that what this pic shows? Simplified on the left and Complicated on the right? The switch on the right(complicated?) has a much better feel to me. Smoother and more refined. I tried taking the click-leafs out of the fk-2001 but it didn't work like I had hoped. Maybe greasing the click-leafs will do the trick.
-
Yes, the Focus was not pleasant to use- that's why I tried removing the click-leafs. The T key doesn't work properly anyway so I am probably done with that board. The Leading Edge is quite nice though.
-
My Focus from 1989 has the same style keys as that one with the 104 layout.
-
Does she use it on her computer?
Yeah she does.
-
Good for her. It's nice to see it when others finally see the light (of the clicky keyboard's NumLock).
-
Hey if someone here won this, would they mind selling me the top right clip that holds the lid on the FK2001? I lost mine a year ago and haven't been able to use the lid since.
-
Cwilson- mine came with two clips and no lid- you are welcome to them. Send me a pm for details.
-
Whoever won it, good buy, $12 all told, well done. wow.
-
I'm the guy that snipes the bone from the two idiot dogs fighting over it using a tactic of bidding high and running out of steam early.
I can die happy. I'm agreeing with Webwit.
That "technique" Kishy, can also mean getting stuck with an overbid too. I'm sure you very well know this as a risk. I'm just saying this out loud in case some not too bright person stumbles across your comment and thinks he's found the secret to beating the system and becoming king of eBay.
If you're using "techniques" to screw over your competitor or come away with an amazing win... call it what it is... gambling. You win some. You lose some, but the house almost always wins in the end.
-
SCTony, you are gentleman and a scholar, sir. I'll send you a pm and some moola for your kindness.
kishy I'll post some pics in this gallery (http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/643970/1/KB?h=21927d) as soon as I can (I don't know how to post pics here).
-
"Anybody ever tried a Compaq rubber dome?" - Yes, I think Compaq has some very nice rubber dome keyboards. I picked up a KB-9963 at a thrift store and liked it enough to eBay a NIB one. Doesn't beat a mechanical kb but is nice.
-
Seller sent me this:
So it looks like I can dink around with the Compaq too.
Why the seller had this auction end at 4am East Coast Time I'll never know.
I was up, I shoulda bid. I didn't think it would go for that little. lol I kind of met my keyboard quota with the siig and scorpius I just bought, or I definitely would have.
