So these are engraved or deeply lasered?
Cool - do they feel scratchy?
They appear to have a bigger surface area on top and less curved.
And do you have any idea of what plastic they are made of?
OT. I really like the headphone jack in the desk. That's pretty sweet.
Yes, how did you get the headphone jack in the desk? I'm a complete idiot when it comes to working with wood. I'm learning little by little.I'm too lazy to fire up some CAD prog, but here is how it would look cut in half (http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=6001&stc=1&d=1259615613)(1 min in paint)
Perhaps you could post a "How to order" with links to the product pages, prices, and buying service instructions? It's actually rather easy...
I'm a bit confused. The red caps look great, but they don't appear in any of the other photos. Did you order the red and black key caps and a keyboard?
Looking again at the keys maybe the shape just looked a bit different because of an optical illusion the different colors cause. This is a pretty good way to check.
...
Oh, and I forgot to ask, are your Cheery now?
Thanks! They are very cheap!

A quick and dirty method is to get a Switchcraft jack (http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/DiMarzio-Switchcraft-14-Stereo-Output-Jack?sku=364737&src=3WFRWXX&ZYXSEM=0&CAWELAID=26024596), bolt it to a big washer, and just drill the appropriate size hole into the wood and epoxy in. Then wire up with some stereo cable (probably have a broken headphone or two lying about).
@patrickgeekhack
Dunno if this helps, but...
Here is a image of the "metal piece" I mentioned earlier:Show Image(http://soulhunter.razorbb.net/misc/MetalPiece.jpg)
Thanks. I will need to find a different vendor. Shipping will be too much from this one.
You should be able to find something very similar in an electronics store (Radio Shack, Altex, whatever-you-have-in-Canada). I have bought similar jacks at The Shack numerous times.
Did those color keycaps come with the larger keys such as enter, space, shift, etc.?
Wow, I counted 14 boxes in the OP. You must REALLY like these.Yes, I really like them...
Doesn't that engraved texture start to bug you after a while? Not really...
Yes, I really like them...
But a lot of this keyset were for sale/friends, same with the next ones!

But keep in mind I'm a mechanic, so my fingers are kinda "thick-skinned" ;P
Only thing that slightly annoys me is that the red keys are slightly transparent due to being such thin plastic. You can actually see the MX plunger through the keycap, even if only very very lightly and under some light circumstances.

I think I see what you are talking about in the blue key in this pic (the back edge):

That's kind of a shame. Are the black ones translucent? They don't appear to be in the pics.
Someday I'll..... go completely nerdy.You haven't yet??
I read traditional Chinese. It says they are laser cut ABS key caps.
It's been a while. Do they feel much different on the keyboards than the original keys? How about the big engraved look - notice that at all? In the Ducky post the OP says they are lasered.
Just checking in.
However.. all of them have ">PBT<" stamped into the actual keycap on the bottom. Slightly visible on the orange.. i mean red key here. (http://t.oomuch.info/src/1259945748251.jpg)
Wish I knew what plastic IBM keys were made of.
Somebody ask UNICOMP next time you give them a call.
Humm, someone able to translate this? (http://item.taobao.com/auction/item_detail-db2-04c06ab730458d4e093c611a4249d855.htm)
it says cherry replacement keycaps, PBT. four different profiles for four different rows, according to that graph you see there.
it says those are dyed with a seep through type of method, so do not use sharp things to scratch it, like sharp metals.
5 bucks each. not exactly sure what currency but this is simplified chinese, so i assume it's yuan. it's in Beijing and they aren't selling or stocking much.
Yep - the KBC keys is included in the Key Reference Wiki but nobody has taken Noppoo key pics. The KBC's look closer to Cherrys than Filcos to me.This is what I am wondering about. Do we have a clear answer on the profile for these?
Yes you can use them, but they wouldn't line up with the stock keys.

Although I wouldn't think that a 27-key set would feel that odd, just elevated a millimeter or three from it's surrounding keys
