Title: Hello from Canada!
Post by: studentben on Sun, 07 February 2016, 04:10:03
Hi guys, I have been into keyboard things for a couple of months now I guess? So far I have a Poker 2 with MX Browns, and a Keypop BumbleBee keyset, I also have an artisan which was from Zorb's Christmas sale. Other than that I haven't spent too much on keyboards yet.

I'm a university student with no job, so my loans are picking up real quick. I still browse around for keyboard related stuff since it's a fun hobby. If anyone would like to trade artisans for what I currently have, feel free to let me know and we can discuss things.

I'm glad to have found a forum of like minded people!

Hello from Florida!

Glad to see you joining the forums. Student loans are a killer.

How did you come to pick the Poker 2 as your keyboard?

I saw some dude clicking and clacking in class and I asked him what keyboard it was. Then he led me to the subreddit of mechanicalkeyboards, from there I purchased a Poker 2. Then after browsing a little while longer, I found geekhack! :) So now I'm here I guess.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Poker is a great keyboard, many members end up with one sooner or later.  Those who don't go straight for an HHKB, that is :))

How are you finding the browns?  There's lots of other switches for you to try, eventually.

I've actually had a chance to test out my friend's Novatouch. I got really tired while writing an essay, so eventually I swapped back to my Poker.

I did enjoy the smoothness of Topre, but I'm not sure if it's something for me.

Novatouch has 45g Topre domes, MX browns are also 45g, but with a different force curve.

35g Topre are available, most recently in that Ducky Topre keyboard, if you wanted to give them another go.

Just took a look at that price D: that's scary expensive ahaha. I think I'll hold off for now until I get more into keyboards, unless someone has one to send me one to try out ;)

Topre boards do tend to be a bit more expensive, but you do get what you pay for.  Nearly everyone who tries a Topre board loves it, and some people have sold off their MX keyboards to only use Topre!

The transition was smooth, I had no issues at all!.

Access to the keys are really easily accessed so I don't miss it at all.

Welcome and hello from Ottawa!

If you're in the area, you're welcome to try out my pretty wide selection of boards.

I found the Novatouch to be pretty fatiguing as well. The Realforce 87U in 45g uniform or variable is much easier on my hands.

Sadly?? I don't feel sorry for you. It's the nicest part of the country and like 10 degrees there now. Woke up to -30, -45 C with wind chill today!

We should do a Vancouver keyboard meetup sometime. Maybe talk some folks like Zeal into showing off some goods too.
