Everything is subjective. Even the "best" have some who don't like 'em much. You'll just have to research and test for yourself.

Start off with a (complicated) white Alps boards, they're cheap, common and fairly representative of the family. Make sure the board isn't dusty, dirty or in bad condition; it affects Alps much more than other switches. Should be plenty easy to find one, no reason to demand others "link" boards for you :P .
